US President George Bush is attending the G8 Summit at Gleneagles, Scotland, which unfortunately was disturbed today due to the terrorist attack in London. British PM Tony Blair left Gleneagles to return to London briefly to assess the situation though returned to the summit later in the evening.
The summit will continue tomorrow but it is expected to end probably a little earlier than originally intended to allow Tony Blair to return to London tomorrow afternoon
Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo a routine exam Friday to check the condition of a high-tech pacemaker that was placed in his chest in June 2001.
Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said the tests at George Washington University Medical Center would include a physical exam, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test. The vice president planned to be back at work later in the day, she said.
"It's a routine physical," she said. She said the vice president also would have a colonoscopy later this month.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signed the book of condolences at the British Embassy in Washington she also met with the British Ambassador to the U.S. David Manning
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
This is a great board .. tons of info, if you don't know about it already: www.flhurricane.com. Very knowledgeable people, even some meteorologists, post there.
eskimo, get lost in a snow bank or something OK?
You're right, Uncle ... Mike is fabulous to our brave troops... "human care package" .. that says a lot, and it's SO true. Your kind words are very uplifting. Pleasure to welcome you to the best place on the web.
Fat chance iceman. You haven't a clue what I do either. And I doubt highly you could ride a bike especially if they take off the training wheels.
You are so right! I have couple of liberal friends and when we start talking politics they are so uninformed. They don't read or look at anything but MSM. It's so much easier for them to spew out the typical leftist slogans than to pick up a book like "The Case For Democracy" They have other redeeming qualities, but I just can't stomach their political views. My older brother is the same way. I'm sure he deletes most of the informational stuff that I send him without reading it. He didn't see the humour in my "hijacking" his computer, installing a "W" screensaver and then password protecting it. That was after his sons and I put a Bush/Cheney04 sign on his garage roof LOL
My prayers and solidarity with you and your fellow Brits. It is so tragic that all the joy and jubilation over the olympic bid had to give way to such sorrow and shock today.
Dearest Snugs,
I don't post much but I do lurk a lot and I wanted to tell you that I thought of you the very moment I heard of these dreadful events. My heartfelt prayers to all of you.
(I still think it's cool that he was wearing it with all those bandages and scrapes!)
They believe what they read in the paper. They don't understand that bad people can't be reasoned with. And they think that throwing money at social problems actually works.
They haven't investigated the facts about socialism, and they think that spreading the money around is a way to 'help' people. And they don't understand that war is necessary to keep the peace.
I don't think the average liberal on the street is a bad person...........just woefully uninformed and intellectually lazy.
On the other hand, I think most of their 'leaders' are outright evil........
You is baaaaad! ;o)
FYI, VP Cheney is due at the British Embassy this afternoon after his EKG checkup.
Does anyone know?
I think you need to get a life and get your priorities straight and LEAVE THESE FOLKS ALONE!
And you owe Snugs an apology for you snide and insensative comments.
Doubtless you may think then "pearls of wisdom" or "logical"
But, they are offensive and un called for!
So kindy leave this thread and don't come back-----EVER!
Our 'brother' Tony sure is a great orator/writer. I really like him. He's been a good friend to the US.
I know, I live 250 miles from NYC and further than that from Washington, but it was MY country that was attacked even if I didn't live near the location that was under attack. It's sad and so fruitless. Don't they realize how united we are when these things happen? They're a backward and stupid people. And in the end, they will lose. Bless you and your countrymen/women. Maryxxx
I know she and Jenna are going to Africa, but I think it's after the President heads for home.....
OGOSH! Remind me never to stand next to him in a crowd. First 911 and now this. (smile)
I hadn't heard about the ambassador from Greece. I knew the one from Egypt had been killed. Animals. How ya doing?
