Time to step up the rhetoric against Gonzelez.

G.O.P. Asks Conservative Allies to Bend Over and Take Another One 'for the Team'.

Here, I fixed the title for you.

If both extreme right wingers and lefties are agreeing on something, then maybe it is worth listening to. I personally dont care for him.

Yep, the GOP is going sackless again. Not my problem and I don't adjust my views based on GOP leadership whining. Congress needs to be gutted and refilled with decent people, not the current batch of slugs infecting D.C.

I have toned down my communications with that bunch of non responsive loons.

Also toned down my donations to zero.

Frist Wimps out again. And I thought Trent Lott was a wimp?

When the GOP gets a real leader in the Senate, the Rats will run for the hills. Until then, they smell blood in the water and will not stop.

emphasized themes that had been tested in polls

That's their problem right there. Clintonite governing by reading the opinion polls isn't leadership. Reagan used his principles, not polls. That's where he went right and where the GOP is screwing up.

The usual MO. Pro-lifers are welcome to work the phones, work election day, send in campaign donations...but when they expect to finally see their issue addressed, they're told to go to the back of the bus and shut up. This may be the time they wise up.

Not a good sign in my book....

Sounds like Bush is going to nominate Gonzales or at least is thinking about nominating Gonzales. I'm not surprise, Bush and Gonzales are pals.

Dear GOP,

Sorry we run this show, you do what you said you would do when you ran to REPRESENT us.

I swear I want to SUE a Politician that lies outta one side of their yap to get elected and turns around with the Trust Me coming outta the other side of their yap.

Can we now add Liar with Spineless to the GOP?

I'll just have to waste more Postage on these so called Representatives.

"The extremism of language, if there is to be any, should be demonstrably on the other side. The hysteria and the foaming at the mouth ought to come from the left."

I tend to agree with this statement. As long as the left continues to hyperventilate, we continue to gain ground if we control our rhetoric. Conservatives have been burned on multiple occasions with court appointments (Kennedy, Souter, etc.). But I'm willing to grant that there are those in the administration with a vantage point to see further down the political road than I. I'm willing to withhold judgement for now.

Republican Senate aides encouraged conservative groups to avoid emphasizing the searing cultural issues that social conservatives see at the heart of the court fight, subjects like abortion, public support for religion and same-sex marriage, participants said.

Yeah you conservatives, just because you got G.W reelected don't go spouting your conservative ethics. Start thinking like a moderate because that is where the Party is heading And you can just be satisfied with someone like O'Connor or more moderate because we want to get along with the demorats. (sarcasm)

It would be wise to at least wait until we know who the nominee is. And remember, Alberto Gonzales is more conservative than Sandra Day O'Conner.

"The only ones who could make somebody sound extreme," said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, a conservative group, "are some of the president's allies talking in an inappropriate way and themselves sounding extreme, which then gets tagged to the nominees."

Uh, no. The only ones that can make a person extreme are the candidates themselves IF they are extreme, or the Democrats stating we're facing armageddon because we could conceivably be closer to following the constitution rather than making laws on the bench.

Now, as to your comment, this doesn't signal anything about the type of nominee the President will choose.

As to the content of the piece, when you attack Gonzales the way Liberals attack constitutional nominees, a person that is a FRIEND of the President, than sorry. I'm not going to feel sorry if some conservatives feel slapped. Some of the comments used against Gonzales have been out of line. If someone attacks my friend in that manner, I'll defend them. It's understandable the President would. There is no reason an argument cannot be made against Gonzales without resorting to smears as Liberals do.

That said, do the GOP I say FORGET IT. IF the GOP Senate had proven it were trustworthy we might shut up and follow your lead. But you have been proven to be ineffective at leadership, you have been proven to accept defeat when you had victory in grasp, so you have NO right to ask people that know how to win to cease speaking and take on Faith for once in your damn lives you'll get it right. In short, to the GOP Senate I state, we don't trust you.

Bush could end this whole circus now with a simple statement that he is happy with Gonzalez as AG, and has no intention of moving him from there.

In the old days the citizens of this fine country had the right to assemble and the right to to petition their government. What has changed this?

"In a series of conference calls on Tuesday and over the last several days, Republican Senate aides encouraged conservative groups to avoid emphasizing the searing cultural issues that social conservatives see at the heart of the court fight, subjects like abortion, public support for religion and same-sex marriage, participants said"

Oh...so the spineless GOP Senate wants the loyal conservative base to shut up ay? Tell those gutless RINO GOP weenie Senators to grow some cajones and fight the godless forces of leftist encroachment on our freedoms we see eroding almost daily in this country. We voted GOP for a reason....to carry out the conservative agenda with the majority. Not to cave in to leftist liberals or be turncoat backstabbers to we the base. We will not SHUT UP and if you spineless GOP wimps in the senate did your jobs properly we should not have to get so agitated over your incompetence and cowardice. Are you listening GOP Senate? Be men..not wimps!
