The pastor pretty much says all that needs to be said.
Like the Holy Roman Empire, the United Church of Christ is neither united, nor a church, nor of Christ.
The United Church of "Christ, the Very Nice Guy".
Unless someone finds that offensive.
Ah heck, if it's what they believe, it's what they believe. Doesn't make a difference to this Roman Catholic. As long as they don't try to change our doctrine, I won't try to change their's.
Bigger fish for both churches to fry.
Why on earth would this even be up for a vote?
"It is highly detrimental to the health and growth of UCC churches and extremely embarrassing for UCC pastors and members to be viewed as non-Christians,"
It should be more than embarrassing. If the UCC is not Christian (which, believe it or not, comes as no surprise), then what would be the point of its "growth"? What is, then, its mission?
the denomination has long been viewed as being a magnet for "Unitarians Considering Christ."
This is setting the bar pretty low. And in fact, it sounds like they are clearing the way for a merger with the unitarians.
the denomination now has "significant numbers of clergy who dont believe in God."
Then what is its point? This is a denomination that will die, and no one will miss it.
Was that serendipity, or intended posting of the Kerry waffle image below the topic? LOL
If this wasn't so stupid it would be tragic!
Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
If a church does not believe those points, they are not a Christian church and their purpose is to lead people astray rather than toward the truth.
Shouldn't that be
of Whom?
Many small Congregational Churches joined the UCC for economic reasons. There was no political agenda involved.
My guess is they will now sever their ties with the UCC.
Why not come out of the closet and admit they are a satanic cult misleading people.
Sign me up. I needs me a Tardis and a young female companion. (And a robot dog would be cool too)
If I heard correctly, yesterday it was announced on FNC that UCC became the largest denomination to support same-sex marriages.

You got that right. Hopefully they'll be able to keep their property.
SpongeBob enters the UCC's Church House. Despite Cleveland's chilly temperatures, he knows he'll be greeted warmly inside.
