ATLANTA (AP) - A committee of United Church of Christ representatives approved a resolution Sunday that moves the church one step closer to becoming the largest Christian denomination to endorse same-sex marriage.

The resolution supported by the UCC's president, John H. Thomas, drew overwhelming support and was recommended for approval when the General Synod votes on it Monday.

It would specify that bisexual and transgender persons merit the same support and protections as gays and lesbians. The wording was revised Sunday, however, to included the "recognition that this resolution may not reflect the views or current understanding of all bodies within the gathered church."

Is there anyone even remotely surprised by this outcome?

Other than they waited this long to ignore what God had to say on this question?

Are these whackers anything like the Uniting Church in Australia?

Down here, the Uniting Church could justifiably lay claim to being the first religion that doesn't actually believe in God!

The largest denomination to approve of same sex marriage and the largest to reject the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God.

That author sure came up with a misleading title. The "Church of Christ" is a completely different entity from the "United Church of Christ." About the only thing they have in common with one another is the three words in their name.

The United Church of Christ is what used to be the Congregational Church. This was the church of many of America's founders, oddly enough ... but they started going wacka-doo around 1790 and never came back. I think they're weirder than your "Uniting Church," if only because they've been at it longer.

They are NOT Christian when they look at Gods word, proclaim they are a higher authority and thumb their nose at Him by working AGAINST His teaching. They ought to no longer call them the United Church of Christ but rather the United Apostate Church of Humans.

IIRC, the Uniting Church put together Lutherans, Wesleyans, and Calvinists? That's a different theological history from the Congregationals.

However, their current state (of practical atheism) seems about the same!

so some minor faction does something pro homo and the MSM reports it as if the Pope just announce he is homosexual.

They never give the number showing how small they really are in comparison to other denominations.

My recollection is it was Presbyterians, Methodists, Wesleyans, and there just might be another one in there...

Whatever the coalition, it's certainly produced more than its fair share of nutbags!

I wonder if the term "MSM" has any connection to the number "666" in Aramaic, Greek, Hebrew, or Latin.

» Support Immigration Reform
» End the Genocide in Darfur
» Oppose Funds for New Nukes
» Fund Stem Cell Research
» Preserve Social Security

LOL! I have seen some Bishops of the Episcopal Church in the U.S. of which I could say the same thing. I always end up wondering if a belief in God and Christ shouldn't actually be a prerequisite for becoming a Bishop; but, apparently, not in the Episcopal Church.

Again from memory, I think they have a Bishop who publicly questions the existence of God. Seems very strange to me...

Main Stream Media? I doubt it very much. It is just an internet slang abreviation adopted by the MSM talking heads.
