Justice O'Connor is retiring. Speculation on her replacement began long ago.
John Ashcroft!
Some one suggested Judge Roy Moore. That would be my choice as well.
Or entrepreneurs.
If this were to happen, I would predict there would be a nuclear explosion at DNC headquarters...
I agree!!!
Ninth Circuit justice Alex Kozinski!!
Awesome idea. I can see the opionions now... "And to protect private property, the Founders esconced in the Fifth Amendment the... anyone? anyone? the takings clause, which was visited by this Court in the Kelo decision which... anyone? did or did not? anyone?... did not uphold the ideals of the Founders, and erroneously gave state and local governments the power to seize property for the enrichment of private entities.
LOL. Yes, and with a piece of white tape holding their glasses together.
I'd like to see Robert Bork get the nomination.
I agree, I think she would make a fine Supreme Court Justice.
Kozinski or Edith Jones.
I would seek Justice Thomas's advice.
It will be a woman, the libs will force it. A woman for a woman.
*** There's nothing wrong with this country that a few accountants and engineers on the Supreme Court couldn't fix." ***
I donno about that Child. It was the accountants in government who set up the homeowners in N.H. to lose their homes so that the government could get more tax money. Otherwise, I agree with your point.

I'll go out on a limb and say you're not from Alabama.
I have seen the name of Jeff Sessions mentioned on here as a potential justice. Something everyone should know, Sessions supported the removal of Roy from the court. He didn't even want Roy on the court in the first place.
Sessions would be a strict constructionist, a good judge, but the problem is, it leaves his seat open should he run, because whoever Riley appointed would face opposition from the Moore-ites.
While Roy was a judge here in Alabama he was known as someone favorable to plaintiff's attorneys. Real favorable, which is why the business community has NEVER supported him. He comes from Etowah County which is a labor union stronghold, where they do support the idea of government power, but also traditional morality. If Moore had not been the "10 commandments" judge, it would have been hard for him to stay on in that circuit. During the Supreme Court races last year, Roy Moore compiled a slate of judges to run for the Alabama high court. The only one of these judges who had a campaign chest consisting of more than contributions from trial lawyers was Tom Parker, and that was because Parkers opponent was Jean Smith, a Sessions protege and one of the judges who voted to remove Roy, and as anyone familiar with the case remembers, Parker was alongside Moore during the duration of the controversy.

How about Cong. Ron Paul? He's a doctor, isn't he, but that would mean he could probably figure out what is in the Constitution and what is not. (Clinical identification skills.)
