Alan is being a complete a$$............as per usual.

You know, I'm just itching to give the following rebuttal on some lib's show, or some "fairly unbalanced" alternative":

"You know, Alan (or insert your least favorite liberal), if you spent as much time being outraged over the fact that we actually were attacked on 9-11, as you do being outraged that the President keeps bringing it up, what better country we would have!

"And, in my opinion, the reason that Bush--PRESIDENT Bush, thank you very much, 62 MILLION people--keeps bringing up 9-11 is that there is still an elitist class in this country, such as yourself, that still refuses to acknowledge that it actually did happen! And that those are the people who should be receiving the full bore of our wrath and ire, not those who are trying to protect us from another one!

So I say, Mr. President, talk about 9-11 as much as you must, until the people get it, the heck with what the libs (like you, Alan), say! And if you leftists take this as impugning your patriotism, libs, you damn skippy I am! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? Take a poll? Stick your finger in the air (or in your mouth)? Conduct a fake hearing in the broom closet of the HOR? Consult the international community? PLEASE TELL ME, tell the American people who are paying for your lazy obstructionist arses to sit in the seat of power and not do a damn thing!"

Okay, I feel better now.

The conservative blogs are giving the speech a thumbs up. Hewitt, captainsquarters, Powerline all giving high praise.

With that, I'm calling it a night. As always, Thanks FReepers!

Are you listening to Costa's doom and gloom questions about GOP members listening to their disillusioned constituents and are thinking of signing a resolution that we must come up with an exit strategy no later than 2006? He's covered the gamut but hasn't yet used 'quagmire'.

Don't think there's a commentator tonight who hasn't mentioned declining poll numbers. I hope they're as consistent in reporting new ones after the public absorbs what the President said tonight.

It was a great speech, but nobody will try to convince you of that because you always think in negative terms. Do you ever have any positive thoughts? I have never seen ANY.

Is anybody watching MSNBC? Can anybody tell me what the crowd just said to McCain???

I caught the tail end of it. There was a man who just came back from Iraq and said the media and congressmen better get behind the military. Called Biden out because he said water and electricity aren't being restored and the man said yes it is, I was there. The press and congressmen should get out of the Green Zone and talk to the people who are there to get the real story of the good things that are going on.

"Just like the Democrats in Congress, President Bush has a way of bringing out the worst in the Liberals. In six short years, the Democrats in Texas were reduced to fleeing the state after Gov. G.W. Bush turned the State from being controlled by Democrats for over 100 years, into a solidly controlled Re publican State. The Democrats couldn't deal with not being in the majority so they self destructed. The same thing is happening in Washington D.C. right before our eyes :-)"

Well said. It's such an amazing and satisfying thing to behold. During the 2000 campaign I never understood exactly what had happened in Texas. Now, I do.

Aside from his comments that Iraq is vital because we need it to be safe for us to be safe and for the terrorists to get demoralized,

This was probably my favorite quote from this really rocking speech:

"We know that if evil is not confronted, it gains in strength and audacity, and returns to strike us again. We know that when the work is hard, the proper response is not retreat, it is courage. And we know that this great ideal of human freedom entrusted to us in a special way, and that the ideal of liberty is worth defending."

Wow.

Off topic but...

Flipped on Tucker Carlson's new show, The Situation, a while ago and saw mostly empty seats in the audience...no more 20-30 people in the audience. A black female Muslim was saying, "Just because we're Muslim doesn't mean that we don't believe in Jesus."
