The EU superstate- future base of Antichrist. by British newspaper editor Alan Franklin

Major Prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7 indicate that the Holy Roman Empire will be the dominant force in the world when our Lord returns. Twenty five hundred years ago Daniel saw the Roman Empire revived from the dead in the end times. Those prophecies are today being fulfilled in Europe.

I have often spoken about the rebirth of the Roman Empire in the form of The European Union, the superstate of 25 nations that has replaced most of the individual countries of Europe, a country with its own flag and parliament. Then, in September, came quite a shock: one of those history being created before your eyes moments. The EU, at an astonishing art exhibition sketching the future of the organisation, described itself under the heading Roman Empire Returns.

According to this EU exhibition, staged in a brightly coloured circus tent outside the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium core of the EU, the EU will be renamed “The Union” once it grows to 50 states over the next three decades. The United Nations headquarters will be moved to Gibraltar, a tiny British enclave off the coast of Spain which commands the entrance to the Mediteranean Sea, a very strategic site. This will be as “The EU defends the international order against the American onslaught.”

"Absolutely! In fact Isaiah is often a prophecy of the God's dealings with Israel but also of that period of time called the end as well."

What you said is Biblical because Paul told us in ICorinthians 10:11

Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: (examples) and they are written for our admonition, (warning) upon whom the ends of the world (age) are come.

So what we are told in the old is the script for what will take place again. Note Christ said it would be as in the days of Noe (Noah) one of the many signs of his return, and that has not happened yet.

The problem with this whole purpose driven/church growth/ multicultural church movement is the loss of the gospel message. If you happen to be one of the minority groups of people who speak up and state your distrust of these methods--you are labeled, even in the church. The stare is the loss of real purpose. Many are numbed by a false picture of the real bride of Christ, they are disconnected, their real purpose derailed. One almost feels like Martin Luther banging on the door of the church hundreds of years ago.

The ultimate problem is the fact that these movements help to establish a basis for the one world religion to be seen in the end times. If you do some research, you will find other religions stating the very same words/facts as this new multicultural church movement is touting. The idea of tolerance, and touchy feely religious expression is leaving people without the life chaning, confronting gospel. It helps establish a network of peoples dedicated to a religion they think is good, but in the end is deceptive.

A 10-nation alliance did appear in Western Europe in 1995.

A 10 nation alliance also occured in the 1970's with the admission of Greece into the European Common Market. All of that has since morphed into the 20+ nation superstate known as the EU. Quite a few cultic groups out there that were certain that the 10 nation EC was fulfilling Daniels prophecy and pumped their followers for even more money.

Now that the EU is 20+ members, It clearly doesn't fulfill the Daniel prophecy yet those cults are still out there. I had a friend that came under the spell of an alcoholic cult leader named Gerald Flurry who runs the Philadelphia Church of God in Oklahoma. Fortunately, she was only in it for a little while and was able to escape relatively unharmed.

That guy who recently shot up church services in Wisconsin was part of a similar cult.

"Major Prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7 indicate that the Holy Roman Empire will be the dominant force in the world when our Lord returns.

No they don't.

When an author begins by assuming facts manifestly not in evidence, nothing he subsequently asserts can be taken seriously."

Yes, they do.

Daniel 2:39-44

After you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, and yet a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things; and like iron which crushes, it shall break and crush all these. And as you saw the feet and toes partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle. As you saw the iron mixed with miry clay, so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay. And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand for them to an end, and it shall stand forever;

The phrase "Holy Roman Empire" does not occur in Scripture.

The identification of the kingdom with the HRE is purely an assumption on Franklin's part and your part - neither of you have substantiated anything, you've just said "Oh yeah, Daniel really means the HRE."

Why should I take your interpretation at face value?

I suppose you're also aware of an asteroid that scientist have predicted that, unless they can maneuver it away, will hit the earth in 2036??

I hope you're not looking for another flood because it's not going to happen. Noah lived among cynics who made fun of and persecuted him for his belief in God.

Franklin nor myself called the empire "holy". He calls it the "unholy". All I'm saying is that we know the Roman Empire existed in Jesus' day and its revival is eminent.

OK, you're saying that we are in the "end times."

When did the "end times" start?

When do they end?

I've never gotten satisfactory answers from anyone who has said that we're in the "end times."

I read it and I understood it.

I guess a question I have is, have you ever been to Europe? Have you ever walked around on a Sunday in Western Europe and toured all the empty cathedrals? How can someone predict that a superstate will be led by a religious leader when the people of the member nations are not religious?

Another question is, what nation would lead such a coalition?

The only thing the Roman Empire, the Holy Roman Empire and the EU have in common is that they have at various times administered some of the same territories.

they have all had different borders, different political systems, different cultures, different religions and different fates.

The passage to which you allude does not specifically identify the entity Daniel is describing as the Roman Empire, or the HRE or the EU.

Er, nope. Your point?

For Heaven's sake, spend more time and effort on the core of the Christian message and less time painting End Time dioramas in your head. Hal Lindsay and his ilk have been milking folks for years on this sort of thing. Put them out of business finally, at last, once and for all.

Above all the Antichrist is described as a political leader... as well as Satan incarnate. I don't see what empty cathedrals have to do with anything. The "religion" of the end times will be Satanism, either thinly disguised as secularism.. or perhaps even Islam.

There was a period of a few weeks after it was first discovered where it was estimated there was a (very very very small) chance of a hit; further observations and calculations have found it will clearly miss.

Looks like your apocalpytic fantasies will go unfulfilled.

I am not sure we can fully define "end times" yet, when you look at scripture, there is a clear description of the people who would be alive during that time. There are some strong parallels between those biblical accounts and the times we live in. I understand that there have been many people living at other times that thought they were living in the end times, yet one scripture in Daniel talks about the increase of knowlege at an alarming rate, the ability to share it, etc--this is the time of the internet, computers, etc. Just interesting.

Has anyone ever thought about the possibility that it is a Islamic Empire and that the Anti-christ is within their ranks right now,

Doesn't that qualify either of the Clintons?
