The EU superstate- future base of Antichrist. by British newspaper editor Alan Franklin
Major Prophecies in Daniel 2 and 7 indicate that the Holy Roman Empire will be the dominant force in the world when our Lord returns. Twenty five hundred years ago Daniel saw the Roman Empire revived from the dead in the end times. Those prophecies are today being fulfilled in Europe.
I have often spoken about the rebirth of the Roman Empire in the form of The European Union, the superstate of 25 nations that has replaced most of the individual countries of Europe, a country with its own flag and parliament. Then, in September, came quite a shock: one of those history being created before your eyes moments. The EU, at an astonishing art exhibition sketching the future of the organisation, described itself under the heading Roman Empire Returns.
According to this EU exhibition, staged in a brightly coloured circus tent outside the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium core of the EU, the EU will be renamed The Union once it grows to 50 states over the next three decades. The United Nations headquarters will be moved to Gibraltar, a tiny British enclave off the coast of Spain which commands the entrance to the Mediteranean Sea, a very strategic site. This will be as The EU defends the international order against the American onslaught.

Are you referring to the Church Growth Movement here? That seems to have deceived a lot of people, even the "elect" in the churches.
I believe this discussion has been held throughout history anytime and everytime the Europeans look like they're going to get it together. I'd be willing to bet Charlamagne was branded the Anti Christ in his day.
Funny you should say that. I did not say that directly but that is exactly what I am thinking. I see the church growth movement and the newer "multicultural church" movement as one of the most gospel derailing movements to hit the American church in 25 years. It appears that many churches feel as though they are not in the loop if they aren't following somebody's new book method. I hold to the idea that we must preach Christ crucified, and Him Alive now at the right hand of the Father. What is your experience with this church growth movement?
I believe there has always been an anti-christ candidate available at many stages of human history--but the political and church climate must also be lined up to proceed.
Sounds like this guy is a worshipper of Gerald Flurry or one of the many cults similar to his.
"When you use the words, "instead of Christ", is this a greek translating of anti?"
Word antichrist and antichrists used in IJohn2:18, 2:22; 4:3; and IIJohn 7; and IJohn 2:18 come from the prime antee'; a prim. particle; opposite, i.e. instead or because of (rarely in addition to): for, in the room of. Often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence, ect.
Christ means what it means, the key is the word used with it anti or Greek antee'.
Every Christian since the formation of the church has believed he lives in the end times. Frankly, I'm skeptical of any and all claims that anyone has any knowledge about anything related to "the end times".
No they don't.
When an author begins by assuming facts manifestly not in evidence, nothing he subsequently asserts can be taken seriously.
"What is so striking is how divorced America and Europe has become from Christianity culturally and politically."
Many of us in fly-over country recognize that the pop culture pushed by industries on both coasts is far from Christian and are raising out children to recognize this. The heart of America is still Christian.
You must read the Bible, because there are several passages that describe a time and a people who will be living at that time. 1 Timothy 4:1-2/ 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12/ 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:10. These are just a few scriptures that give accurate pictures of that time.
"Frankly, I'm skeptical of any and all claims that anyone has any knowledge about anything related to "the end times"."
I must agree in part with you, as Christ gave us the 'signs' of his return and there are some very specific signs that have not happened yet. What Christ told us does not conflict with what Daniel penned.
Lutheran theology teaches that the end times are from Christ's Easter victory until his return. We all are living in the end times and mankind has been for a couple thousand years.
"I'm skeptical of any and all claims that anyone has any knowledge about anything related to "the end times"."
The only "knowledge" that's being professed comes from the Bible. Jesus told of the "signs" of the end times. But the Old Testament prophecies also spoke of what to look for.
Absolutely! In fact Isaiah is often a prophecy of the God's dealings with Israel but also of that period of time called the end as well.
I can tell you that it hasn't been pleasant. Many churches are being deceived with this false doctrine, and the worst part is that they are the ones who should recognize it. I had dinner last week and this subject came up. A lady said "I don't understand what is going on" and I had to remind her of the scripture that in the last days, the very elect will be deceived. She still looked puzzled, and she was a Bible College graduate. I looked her in the eye, and said "HELLO? This is the END TIME! What part of that do you not understand?" I think I finally got the message home to her. People have been lulled into a total stupor. Many of those who attend these new "purpose driven" churches have blank stares not unlike the Scientologists.
A 10-nation alliance did appear in Western Europe in 1995. It's a 10-nation military alliance known as the Western European Union (WEU). These nations are members of both NATO and the European Union . What binds these 10 nations together is their mutual defense obligation under the Brussels Treaty.
It's interesting that the EU's Euro-Mediterranean Partnership for Peace (Euro-Med) combined with the EU's new European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) and coming seven-year budget period may set the stage perfectly for the seventieth week of Daniel. Here's where the seven-year element comes in. The EU has a seven-year budget term. So, Javier Solana's people have drawn up a new funding instrument for the ENP that will take over when the EU's next budget term begins on January 1, 2007. Since the EU fits its political agenda to its budget term, this instrument will be to finance Solana's foreign and security policy objectives for seven years.
Even with the apparent demise of the current constituon proposal, the EU's foreign and security policy needs continue. With, or without the EU's new constitution, beginning on January 1, 2007, Solana (or whoever may hold the post at that time) will have a huge expense account with which to confirm his Euro-Med covenant with many for seven years.
