U.S. MARINE CORPS FORCES PACIFIC, CAMP H. M. SMITH, Hawaii (June 24, 2005) -- Block off all their main and secondary supply lines for these are their main arteries, and ambush them along those routes for they are exposed and easy prey.
These words from Abu Musab al-Zarqawi were cited by the Winds of Change website, showing the real danger for convoys traveling Marine supply lines in Iraq.
There have been 341 Marines killed in action and 4,099 wounded in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom since February 16, 2004. How many of these fatalities and casualties have been caused by improvised explosive devices and ambushes on convoys? Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles couldve saved some of those lives and kept those Marines in the fight.
With its flat bottom and soft-skin plastic doors, if a humvee is directly hit by a land mine or IED, most likely the passengers inside will lose their life and the vehicle will be destroyed beyond repair, said Maj. Gert de Wet, Central Command plans officer.

Git-R-Done!
I bet if they put Saddam on the hood they would stop some of those ambushes.
Dang. LEt's get them NOW!
One thing good about wars, BS gets shoved aside. Before the war a foreign made vehicle would not be considered because it was built overseas. Not everything made in the USA is good, but DoD is forced to buy them because some Senator or Congressmen mandated it. HUMMVV were not designed to be armored cars, and yet we are forced to use them as such. Now they are too top heavy for their chassis and frame.
Bet that would be great for finding a parking place at the mall at Christmas shopping time.
StarCMC, driver of an evil bright red Chevy Tahoe SUV would like that very much. Yep. Uh-huh!!
I am quickly approaching the "face-it-girls-I'm-older-and-I-have-more-insurance" stage of life! LMBO!
DANG!! Love the names! Woo-hoo!!!! Our troops SO rock!! You gotta love it!
Wonder how soon they'll ber available at the Used Car lot?
Wonder how soon they'll be available at the Used Car lot?
Dang-blasted stuttering fingers again!
One unfortunate aspect of armoring HMMVVs & trucks is that no truck can be armored enough to prevent it being destroyed by 200 lbs of plastic explosive being set off under or next too it. That much will flip a tank over.
Great vehicle. There are only 2 dozen or so of them in Iraq. Why not more?
Don't know it was news to me. Didn't know that they even existed until I found the story.
If it brought my son or daughter home alive, I would think that it was the most beautiful vehicle I had ever seen.
Like the A-10 Warhog, Ugly is as ugly does!

Have you all noticed the difference between news stories written by military reporters compared to most MSM stories? They're always clear, informative, and to the point; and with little or no editorial opinion slipped in.
