From what I heard of the date rape drug on various crime documentaries, GHB is fast acting especially mixed with alcoholic beverages which is what GHB gets mixed up with. It'll knock the wind out of one's sails in the blink of an eye, and in some cases may even kill the person.
Usually the talking heads, are full of it. LOL But maybe they're right this time.
Well I grew up in a very hard part of the midwest and the stuff was around and easy to get back then, it was not used as date rape drug in my neck of the woods. The kids would get high with it, but you had to watch how much you took or would find yourself passed out cold. There was many different types of drugs around back then, including crack which was not the drug of choice back then and you very little about it back then.
A&E made a show based on his successful capture of the Revlon heir. Of course he was captured and jailed himself for simply doing the job the FBI should have been doing all along.

What drives me insane is these parents were talking about "house rules" in these interviews, and I'm like WTH? Kids coming home at 3:30am on a damn school night? Had that been me when I was their age, mom would get the belt with the meat hooks and whip my hide right off my bones.
I didn't realize people took it as a drug voluntarily. That's scary, but I guess not as scary, as having it put in their drink by someone else.
