Dozens of people were injured in a collision between a truck and a passenger train that occurred by Kibbutz Revadim, near Yeruham Tuesday afternoon.
The train was on its way from Tel Aviv to Beersheba when the collision occurred.
As a result of the collision, the train was derailed and two cars were flipped over.
Three of the wounded were in critical condition and were airlifted to Tel Hashomer Hospital in Petah Tikva. Over 100 passenegers received treatment on the scene. Some passengers may have been killed, medics said.
Passengers remained trapped under the wreckage, and rescue specialists, including the elite Homefront Command search and rescue unit, were on the scene.
The incident was declared a mass casualty event, and helicopters to dispatch the wounded were dispatched to the scene of the collision.
The train was making its way from Haifa to Beersheba when a truck, which had just left Kibbutz Revadim carrying chicken cages, seems to have crossed the train tracks at an ungated crossing.

Suicide trucker like the one in LA?
The article suggests idiot rather than terrorist. No difference to the wounded and dead, of course.
If this was a suicide trucker, we'll definitely find out soon enough. If you thought of it, don't think the Israeli rescuers and police aren't aware of the possibility.
Meanwhile pray for the injured and the families of those affected.

Police Rule Out Terrorism in Train Crash

(IsraelNN.com) Lachish district police officials are reporting they are confident the southern Israel train crash was not a terror attack, but more likely an accident due to human error.
It is now being reported that the truck involved in the crash worked with Israel Railways in some capacity, and apparently, the train’s operator should have been familiar with the truck’s route as he attempted to cross the tracks in the area.
The number of injured is being reported at about 100, with at least 8 in serious condition. Victims were transported to the following hospitals; Hadassah Ein Kerem (Jerusalem), Kaplan (Rehovot), Barzalai (Ashkelon) and Tel HaShomer (Tel Aviv).
Emergency information numbers for the hospitals are available on the website.
The number of dead is now being reported at 6, but this is yet unconfirmed, although reliable.
