Eleanor Mondale Diagnosed With Cancer
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Eleanor Mondale, the daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale, has been diagnosed with brain cancer, the Star Tribune reported Tuesday.
Mondale spoke to the newspaper just hours before she began her first session of radiation and chemotherapy at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Just a week ago, Mondale married local rock star Chan Poling.
"It's bad but not that bad," she said from her farmhouse in Prior Lake. "I've got a really good chance to beat it."
Mondale, 45, said her vision had bothered her in recent months but didn't believe there was anything seriously wrong until a camping trip May 16, when she suffered two seizures.
Doctors determined she had two tumors, both in her frontal lobe, and on May 31 they were found to be cancerous.
Mondale will undergo nearly seven weeks of oral chemotherapy and radiation, which could either zap the tumors completely or reduce them to a size that makes surgery safer.
Is she married to Chan Poling from the Suburbs?
Wow...horrible news for her. This one is gonna be tough to beat.I watched a special Dateline NBC the other night with a guy who had brain cancer and that was just in one spot on his brain. The operation he did risked him losing his speech and ability to read and understand music and recognize his loved ones. He pulled through but is easily not the same person as it effected his emotions,he became a very serious person versus the happy go lucky guy he once was.
Prayers go out to her. I believe she had been working as an entertainment reporter wasn't she?
I was amused (and impressed) by his reaction to Ronald Reagan's "youth and inexperience" line during the debate. Mondale himself laughed along with everyone else, probably because he couldn't help it. I know he was probably thinking to himself, "There goes the election," but still his laughing about it was classy.
He sure was all of that; a gentleman and much like Ronald Reagan, but without the President's easy manner. Walter is a Patriot.
Yes, she's the lady who went in one door of the White House for a tryst with Billy Jeff while Monica was being escorted out the other door.
Still, I'm sure we all wish her the best.

Lost to "The Big Boss Man" 49 states to 1.
Was heard at a DemocRAT rally on an open mike saying to one of his pals "We're going to tax their asses off."
Tried for Wellstone's seat as a Minnesota "favorite son". Got his butt whipped.
No he is not a decent man, he is an elitist scoundrel who thinks all of your money is his to allocate.
regards,
Prayers to her. This sounds very serious.

Sorry about Eleanor though. Very pretty if misguided woman.
Regards,
That sucks. I hope she recovers completely.
How bizarre, what a shock it must have been. Prayers sent for Eleanor and her recovery.
Do you mean Keith Van Horn formerly with the Nets, formerly with the Sixers, formerly with the Bucks, now with the Mavs?
It is the Monica was calling her names as she stood outside of the White House. Monica noticed her name on the log. The DC Chapter just happen to be there also.
My wife died of a glio blastoma tumor at age 39. Two surguries, radiation, and chemo gave her two years. The upside is that she did not suffer as with other cancers. My prayers go with the poor kid.
Prayers for you and your as well . . .
Who names there kid after a cow ?
