Thanks for responding as I left the thread to get some shuteye and missed this.
Please also put me on your earthquake ping list. I missed reading about this one last night.
Riiiight... I believe that.
The state won't fall into the ocean...just places like La Conchita and Laguna Beach.
LOL!! No, although I drive by that way a lot.
heheh. Being a former alcoholic, I don't touch the stuff even to hand it to someone else!
I drive 199 very frequently, and would loathe to be on one of the narrows during an earthquake.
Shudder.
oops - meant that reply to tubie.
Please add me to your Earthquake Ping List. Thanks.
.
Tell me about it. I live here; see my Contact info.
I own one of those 50 year-old starters; a 3 & 2 with single-car garage that I expanded to 1440sq. ft. A neighbor listed the same original floorplan at $485,000; it'll probably get bid up to over $500,000. All they've done is keep it nice and convert the garage to a den and laundry room. It's nuts.
Move to a different location? I've thought about it. Saw a 3000sq. ft. 5 & 3 with a full basement, modern everything, double-pane windows & 3-car garage in Overland Park, KS for just $298,000. Did I mention the 2/3 acre lot?
Danged tempting, some days, I'll tell you, but my real estate is my best investment, and I'd be crazy to liquidate it, now.
you are forgetting God's vig
Seems there is a large area that needs a new large box...
No, you idiot. The cig lighter showed me the obstacles to climb over to get out of the bathroom. Broken doors and glass and things. When I found my big flashlight, I also found my pants and shoes and the wrench. A big cut on my left arm and smaller cut on my right leg waited an hour to get treated because burning alive was not an option. I rubbed 100% isopropyl alcohol into these wounds when I got back with a washrag. They dried fast.
I think Strategerist answered your question awhile back (#273) but take a look here which also specifies the portion of the plate I'm interested in, the Gorda microplate.
BTW Strategerist, I am also in Maryland. What's that line about the pleasures of viewing revolution from a terrace? ;)
Here is our local papers coverage post event.
If this ha been the real thing lives would have been lost.

Thanks for that info .. that's very interesting.
LOL!
well, you know....all those people along the shore can make an effort and buy a NOAA enabled radio....the thing would have popped off when the Tsunami warning went out...at nearly the same time the authorities received the warning...
