The US State Dept. doesn't give a rat's behind about the lives of American citizens when compared to their desire to "maintain good relations" with our "allies".

You are neglecting to consider, or discounting, the profound influence that many Americans who care may apply to this case. Consider the possibility that it has come to the attention of the POTUS, his wife, and Condi.

Actually, I'm not discounting it, I'm COUNTING on the interest of the american public and the girl's family and friends to keep the pressure on this investigation. That is the only thing that will force both the Aruban and US authorities to finish the job.

The FBI is full of wonderfully talented and intelligent people who sincerely try to serve their country. However, its leadership is politically corrupt, and does not view protecting the lives and rights of our citizens as its highest priority. The State Department is a lost cause. The Bushes and Condi Rice will not become publicly involved in a matter concerning a single girl - it would be "bad form".

FOX just reported a fifth person being questioned. A Dutch person, brought in last night. No ID on this person yet. Has anyone else heard anything. I believe someone who wrote from Aruba mentioned something.

Additionally, Natalee's biological father is said to have worked in a special ops division of the military.

I saw that mentioned once in the other thread but not as a quote from any article. Not sure if I would hold too much stock in that one. Her stop mom said that her husband (Natalee's biological father) wasn't taking this well and was falling apart. I realize he is being deeply affected by this but would also think a former special ops would be able to deal with it and not 'fall apart'. jmo

today 6am police go into house in Sta Cruz where they go with one person ……with initials S.C. this arrest took place 6am this morning…surprised the family with this arrest….we got different information, but we want to get all concrete things together before we bring this news to you…..we dont want to confuse anyone! we want to say that their is suspicion that she is ALIVE! but we dont want to bring up any suspicion to anyone but we will be back with info if this person has information for this case…also in Savaneta they took someone for interogation…..we are hoping this will come to an end, with all this suspicion we believe shes alive…..stay pending…..thank you harry

At 9:50 am: MSNBC & Fox have just reported the arrest of a fourth suspect. A 27 year old man.
It has been confirmed by Fox speaking to individual in Justice department 4th arrest 26 year old friend of joran

Fox News now reporting: Sources: 4th Person Arrested in Aruba Mystery

Authorities in Aruba arrested a fourth man in connection with the disappearance of missing Alabama honors student Natalee Holloway, sources told FOX News.

The new person detained is a 26-year-old friend of Joran van der Sloot — who was with Holloway the night she disappeared, sources said. Van der Sloot, 17, has been detained but not charged.

Unbelievable, after 18 days a fourth suspect now confirmed arrested, 26 year old, son of a prominent businessman and alleged friend of joran van der Sloot. Aruban authorities state there is an search going on with regards to this arrest but did not state where.

The boy has the initials SGC, and his father is also high in the judiciary.

Update: 1045 There is a rumor of another person taken into custody, his father recently committed suicide and that he has had serious mental issues since. He has two homes, a house on the main road of savaneta and also another one in Seroe Alejandro, and was know for having underground parties.

This is getting a little bizarre.

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A fourth person has been detained in Aruba in the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, authorities announced Friday.
The person “suspected of being involved” in Holloway’s disappearance was identified by the attorney general’s office only as a 26-year-old with the initials S.G.C. The office did not disclose the gender or say when the person was detained.


According to Top 95 via American in Aruba:

The arrest this morning was of a 26 year old. There wwere 2 dutch brothers questioned yesterday may have provided some information that led to this arrest. Also , a family friend of Joran Van Der Sloot was on the radio saying the Joran was a quiet nice boy who liked to go out with friends. The station is holding out hope publicly on the radio that she may be alive.

It does appear as though someone is talking. I hope they get a break in this case soon!

The Bushes and Condi Rice will not become publicly involved in a matter concerning a single girl - it would be "bad form".

They don't need to become publicly involved at this point. They can demonstrate an interest in the case to a select groups of individuals and those said individuals can do their duties. I know the POTUS cares deeply about the slave trafficking problem and don't doubt any of these three would be deeply moved by Natalee's disappearance.

Rip, my husband was "special ops" in the air force. It's a diverse field, with many different specialties. And I seriously doubt my husbands experience would have benefited him in this situation. It's not the same thing..

Yes, it is sad too. For so many years, I warned my daughters. They traveled all over the world in groups and I knew, just knew, that my warnings wouldn't protect them entirely. They all trust others and while they can spot an obvious dangerous situation, they are pretty accepting of new people especially if they are "packaged" right with good manners, clean, nicely spoken.

Anyway they are all married to reasonably protective husbands so I can rest easy. Free at last, free at last, Thank God Almighty, I am free at last. Thanks to MLK.

UPDATE 29: Hasibokos.com has just received information and confirmation that there has been an additional arrest in the Natalee Holloway case. We can also inform that Hasibokos.com has received information that indicates that the Aruban court is leaning towards extending the arrest of the 3 young suspects without charging them officially for a crime (we are waiting for confirmation on this as the court session is still in progress). We also learned that the prime minister of Aruba, Nelson Oduber, is facing a lot of criticism for is personal involvement in the case. Yesterday Andin Bikker of the political party Democrasia Real, criticized the prime minister publicly for coming forward and getting himself personally involved in the Holloway case. According to Bikker, the prime minister should abstain himself from personal involvement in all judicial cases and let the justice department do his job. Bikker relates the arrest of the (recently released) security guards directly to the pressure that has been put on the justice department to quickly find someone to blame/prosecute. Bikker also criticized the prime minister for his poor ability to express himself in the English language. Bikker advised the prime minister to take an English language course.
