Thanks for the thread & the ping eleni121..

NY is indeed lucky to have someone of Rus' caliber running but part of me is afraid he isn't enough of a jerk to suit the idiots who vote in the likes of Hitlery...

You go get um The Mayor... Wish I had apile of money to send you (or even a little).. I know you need that to run a viable campaign.

always enjoy reading about your campaign at the finest, special threads .. wherever/whenever.

There is a PAYPAL Link at his site www.rusthompson.com

I just donated $100 to the cause (and I am fixing his computers)- it is new paypal setup, it seems, but my donation went out OK

ERIE COUNTY can be the start of the bubble burst of tax revolt in this state and this country. New York State ALREADY has its eyes on us and is afraid.

Donate today- Rus has a great chance~!

Thompson denounces tax hike
Karen Ruch
Wednesday, June 15, 2005

In a rally he hosted Tuesday night, Rus Thompson chastised the Erie County Legislature for approving a sales tax increase.

Thompson, a Republican candidate for the 10th legislative seat, hopes to fill the position Chuck Swanick, R-Kenmore, is vacating coming fall. Bill Naab, the original Republican choice for the seat, dropped out of the race.

Speaking directly to residents who attended the rally, Thompson, a Grand Island resident, expressed his concern about the rising sales tax and its effects on citizens.

“Raising taxes by a quarter of a penny now only finances debt for 10 years, and the payoff figure will be right around $300 million,” Thompson said. “What about the future for our children?”

Thompson is concerned that the sales tax increase will become problematic for small business owners.

“These taxes hurt the local businessmen the most. Expenses increase and become unaffordable,” he said.

Another problem Thompson foresees concerns senior citizens living on Social Security.

“How will the elderly be able to afford a new roof or other unexpected expenses when they are not making money on their own?” he asked.

Thompson plans to give power back to Erie County’s various municipalities.

“We need to restructure all of Erie County’s government and bring the power back to the city, village and town. The people should have control,” he said. “We need to look inward and start cutting.”

Thompson wants to keep residents in Erie County.

“The continued tax increases have driven people out of the area. I want to bring them back and keep them here,” Thompson said.

Residents are confident that Thompson would do a good job in office, rectifying the situation and eliminating the need for a tax increase. Peter Rasch, a Grand Island resident, believes that Thompson will make a difference.

“I think that Rus is a breath of fresh air in an environment that has been getting progressively worse over the years.” he said. “He’s been in politics for years, and can cut through the red tape and cut taxes. He can get things done.”

Beverly Rasch, a strong supporter and friend of Thompson, holds the candidate in high regards. “(Thompson) is true man of integrity,” she said. “I have found him to be a good, honest man.”

Oh, how I wish everyone on the Ping! List for The Mayor, and those reading this, were eligible to vote in this state election!
He is a regular on The Finest of FR, and held in the highest regard.

Rus is an Army veteran, married to a USMC veteran, and they have four near/in-teen-age children - all incentives for righting things in that part of New York, long drained dry by liberals.

He is a staunch Christian, posting for the second year on our thread, The Daily Bread for our enlightenment and encouragement.

He also acts as our host on Monday of every week, on The Finest of FR, the Military Monday threads, designed to honor *our veterans of all wars,* and support our present day service members!

[If you have a loved one serving now and would like them added to our posted list there, requesting prayers coverage, please Freep Mail The Mayor with their relationship to you.]

A building contractor, Rus knows well what it is to do hard work with his own hands, financial management, responsibility and all the "must have" ethics.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS GREAT AMERICAN!!

Soon, the NY State Legislature - -
beyond that, a halt to the Liberal Steamrolling Machines???!!

Make it so!!!

=======================================

Praying daily for you, Your Honor --

~ LadyX
