Byrd has won every election by a landslide, but it appears he may have his work cut out for him. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito could give him a run for his money. Current polls give Byrd 46% and Capito 43%. The beauty of this is Capito has not announced a run for Byrd's seat. Byrd is so desperate that he has Sen. Obama raising money for him. Irony? Byrd will resign on a medical leave: hemorrhoids.I don't know whether he has them or not but he is making the rest of us squirm a lot.

They are dead as a terrorist group. No wonder with the medical care they get.

His name is synomous with racism and corruption in Tennessee, and he most certainly will not win our fine state.Could easily describe Al Gore, Jr., and he won each time until it counted. That was because he got more exposure and people got to see who he relly was other than a famous name in Tenn.

I like beating this "dead horse" just to piss liberals off. They are hypocrites and I hope they are lurking here. It may have been 50 years ago, but I think Byrd is still a racist.

I didn't. I found the picture and posted it. What's the problem? I won't get into a debate with you over the Flag. I'll say what I want to say and that will be the end of it. You have a picture of a racist man, wearing a racist costume. On that costume is a Confederate flag. To some it's a sign of racism.
To most it is about history. The Southerners, are the only people not allowed to celebrate the deaths of their ancestors who fought in the war between the North and South. My ancestral family never owned slaves. I can trace my ancestors back to Brian O'Banion, who left Ireland and landed in Virginia in 1680. No slave owners in our family tree.

That stupid move on his part was over FIFTY years ago!The only reason that is ever mentioned is the Dems blast the Republicans as racists and give Byrd a pass. Look what happened to Trent Lott and compare that to the treatment Byrd gets. Byrd plays the liberal gig to the hilt, like he did fifty years ago when being conservative and a Klansman was politically popular. You are preaching to the wrong bunch.

You gotta be kidding!
There's lots more to Tennessee than just Shelby County, and even "yellow dog" Dimocrats will draw a line somewhere.

Ford will win easily because he is a very conservative Dem. Very conservative? He is quite liberal. If the GOP has his tirades on the floor of the House on tape where he's ranting and raving about tax cuts for the rich and other such nonsense - so much to the point he was reprimanded by the chair - they should make quick work of him.

"Could easily describe Al Gore, Jr., and he won each time until it counted."Last time Al Gore, not Clinton/Gore, won anything in Tennessee was in the '80's, wasn't it? Or maybe in '90?
So much for ancient history - we're talking about the NEXT election here.
