I didn't. I found the picture and posted it. What's the problem?

I won't get into a debate with you over the Flag. I'll say what I want to say and that will be the end of it. You have a picture of a racist man, wearing a racist costume. On that costume is a Confederate flag. To some it's a sign of racism.

To most it is about history. The Southerners, are the only people not allowed to celebrate the deaths of their ancestors who fought in the war between the North and South. My ancestral family never owned slaves. I can trace my ancestors back to Brian O'Banion, who left Ireland and landed in Virginia in 1680. No slave owners in our family tree.

My ancestral family never owned slaves.

Sounds like class envy to me. :-)

You have articulated a very important point and educated me once more. Thanks for that clarification.

You make a good point. Let me explain my credibility. I'm 41 yrs old and I had a great grandfather fight for the South in The War of Southern Independence. Think about that. My great grand father. He was born Benjamin Gunter Womble on Feb 17, 1842. My grandmother, his daughter, was born Dec. 10. 1903. My mother was born Apr 26, 1943. I was born March 17, 1964. My mother has been active with the UDC and the DAR. Need I explain this. BTW, my great grand father was captured at Gettysburg and imprisoned at Hart's Island, NY until the end of the war.

Therefore, Don't lecture me. I will Freepmail you on this.

Shall we discuss our family's role in The Revolution next?

When the KKK was at the height of its membership and power in the 1920s, with over two million members nationally (out of 125 million populations) there were large parades held on the streets of Washington D.C. Notice that the Confederate Battle Flag carried by the Army of Northern Virginia is not in evidence. The widespread use of the Battle Flag by the KKK did not occur until the 1960s. Here is the Flag that they carried most frequently...

So to be fair to Senator "Sheets" Byrd, his 'uniform' should only have the American Flag with 48 stars to be historically accurate. To show otherwise would be like a painting of George Washington in 2003 US Army desert battle-dress...
