Tony is talking about the WaPo poll. He needs to read crushkerry's analysis which was just posted and is excellent.
Right now, Brown is done.
So is Pryor.
Frist needs to schedule the other held up judges pronto, and immediately thereafter Bolton - making certain everyone realizes the nuke is present, but only veiled for all of these.
Everyone in the Senate knows how they're going to vote on all of these by now. The reason for "extending debate" is to influence voters, and since the influencing process is done, it is time to get a votes up-or-down.
The WH ought to make such supporting comments, too.
He'd need a UC to do that..you know that Schumer would object..nice idea though
GREAT QUOTES -
JRB for SCOTUS !!!
Sounds good to me. But based on reports from last night's press conference it sounds like the Frist and friends want to conduct some other business before going nuclear. If true, I don't like that move.
Please omit me from your 'Met fans living vicariously through Yankee defeats list'.
Thanks.
Could someone please educate me on recess appointments....if GW does this with Bolton, will Bolton serve until GW's term ends?
You are correct--I saw an article at THE HILL NEWS that said that Frist is ready to "move on" to other legislation, but some of the Reps, Allen and Inhofe most vocally, have said that they need to put up the nominees and especially one that could trigger the "const. option"...
Their reasoning is, to get this whole thing over with so that when a SCOTUS opening comes up, the whole filibuster threat will be taken care of...
BUT, Frist is balking at that strategy, and has Santorum, Sessions, and Cornyn in his corner...
I suppose folks, we have an offensive team and a defensive team....I prefer offense...I am sorry that Sessions and Cornyn are on the "defensive team"---and of course, Frist, being the Maj. leader, is the most disappointing...
is this gonna be on cspan or what!?
I don't like their talk of going after Roger Clemens though!
LOL. Good one.
Sorry, I thought you were on the ping list..my bad..
I heard that if Bolton got a recess appointment, it would last through 2006---don't know if that is true, but I heard it on a radio talk show last month...
The way I see it---give him the recess through 2006, and then all of this crap will have blown over, and try again--if they start up again...recess again.
If Bolton is recess appointed then he could fill the seat until the new congressional seating in 06. I'm not sure if it's Nov. 06 or Jan. 07?
Yeah, I read the same article. While I understand Frist's approach, I'm definitely in Allen's/Inhofe's corner.
In regard to Bolton, the RATS want the government to turn over names of people whose conversations have been read by Bolton. The administration offered to let the top RAT and top Pub look at the same info that's already been shared with the committee.
The RATS refused the offer.
Thanks...that's what I heard also, but was unsure.
I assume you mean Tony Snow? If it's true that would be awesome.
I am definitely in Inhofe and Allen's corner, and I dare say, that this could set up to have Republicans find out what kind of POTUS candidate they want...
An offensive, we are the majority and this is how it is gonna be, approach....
Or the laid back, will just bide our time, and see how things work out approach...
Why am I not surprised that the son of Coach George Allen would take the offensive approach??? I think I am falling in love....lol
Hi, Ken, thanks for getting us ready for another action-packed day. It truly is sad that the CBC would do this to Justice Brown. Have they no shame? < /rhetorical question>
