RE: Most likely, the first repercussion such a rash action, would be an all out war, a crashed or severely disrupted world economy and a needless and possibly catastrophic disruption to the American way of life.

In WW2, we fought an all out war. We were willing to then, we aren't now. Lee Rodgers, local KSFO Hottalk 560 talkhost, put it succinctly a few days ago. The US has not won a war, outright, cleanly, with a surrendering enemy, etc, since 1945. Or, more specifically, we have not had the will to win one.

They chose a small town on purpose, to sneak in and out of.

If you're correct & this Lodi cell is a significant threat, and I do "put myself in their shoes", then I can think of a Target of Opportunity that would make sense.

Dare I say it & give them an idea?...or can I reasonably rely upon our finest in Homeland Security to have already thought of it?

It's obvious to the casual observer driving on I-5 south of Pea Soup Anderson's...

It supplies millions in the Los Angeles Basin with a vital ingredient of daily Basin life...

Disruption or contamination would likely result in widespread fear, panic & possible chaotic overreaction...

The California Aquaduct, of course. There, I said it. And you're right, there would be nothing silly about an credible attack on that. Allah may be stuck in Lodi...again...for a devious reason.

But I've been supportive of our present objectives in Iraq (as I perceive them) since the git-go. Gradually, one-by-one & house-to-house we will kill every al Qaida supporter who doesn't kill themself first...right down to Osama-llama-ding-dong...

A total deterrent to radical Jihadists...as each one killed is FOREVER deterred from further, radical activity...

You'll NOT receive an argument from me! :) Our military is the BEST!

The water? Yeah....we've all discussed that. NOT a pleasant thought, is it, to say the least.

Congressman refuses to probe illegal alien
terrorist cell in his own district

January 28, 2005 - Despite widespread news reports linking Moroccan Muslims to worldwide terrorism, Florida Congressman Ric Keller (R-8-FL) has declined to call for a formal FBI or Government Accounting Office (GAO) investigation of Orlando Homeland Security official Mary Schneider's concrete evidence of green card bribery of immigration officials by illegal Moroccan Muslims linked to a terrorist cell in Keller's central Florida congressional district--the hub of Sunshine State tourism and airline traffic.

Our interview with the Orlando immigration adjudication officer revealed that Keller, who is a member of the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security told Mary Schneider "your problem is not a matter within the purview of a federal agency." Full Story

"It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims..."
Abdel Rahman al-Rashed, ARAB NEWS 9 September 2004

Holy War on the Home Front

Holy War on the Home Front:
The Secret Islamic Terror Network in the United States

(An excerpt) FROM THE PUBLISHER

"Nearly three years after 9/11, the war on terror is far from over. In fact, a leading terrorism expert argues that despite the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the efforts of the Department of Homeland Security, we're not really any safer at all.

Harvey Kushner, a respected adviser to the FBI, the FAA, the INS, and other government agencies, offers frightening new evidence of a unified Islamic terrorist network that is operating inside the United States and planning new opportunities to strike.

Kushner identifies and assesses the violent plans of these Islamic organizations and individuals who take advantage of our reluctance to engage in ethnic profiling. He supports his claims with never-before-seen documents from top-level government sources, exposing a secret network of Arab intelligence agencies, terrorists, university professors, corrupt imams and other religious leaders, and violent criminals.

Some members of this network are recent immigrants; others have been American citizens for years. Some are laundering money from abroad through seemingly innocuous charities and mosques. Some have even infiltrated our military as Arabic translators and Muslim chaplains..."

The influential Washington-based Center for Security Police recently unveiled a groundbreaking report entitled, "Terrorism Investments of the 50 States."   This report analyzes the investment portfolios of America's leading public pension funds.  The key finding of the report is that America's 87 largest and most influential pension systems invest some $200 billion in companies that provide revenues, advanced technology, equipment and moral cover to governments that enable terrorism.  (This detailed report and related materials can be obtained at www.DivestTerror.org.)

To be sure, there is nothing illegal about investing in any of the roughly 400 companies that partner with our enemies' friends.  Nor is it illegal for such companies to do business with terrorist-sponsoring regimes.  Whether the law prohibits such activities or not, however, we believe most Americans will agree with us that they are wrong â?" wrong morally, wrong strategically and wrong financially.

Consequently, DivestTerror.org offers a "how-to" manual showing ways in which investors, taxpayers and other citizens can bring pressure to bear to convert this $200 billion investment into leverage that can be used to help defeat terrorism.  Reduced to its essence, the idea is this: By divesting the stock of these companies, public pension systems, university endowments and even individual investors can send a powerful message to the companies that provide life-support to many of the planet's most dangerous regimes. You can choose to continue to partner with rogue state regimes that aid and abet terrorism.  Or you can do business with American investors and capital markets.  But you can no longer do both.

As the DivestTerror.org website makes clear, divestment campaigns have already proven to be highly effective instruments.  In fact, over the last twenty years, institutional and private investors have repeatedly used their financial leverage to initiate social change.  For instance, these efforts have been used to bring pressure on stocks of companies involved in tobacco, alcohol, gambling, guns and environmentally insensitive behavior.  Arguably, the best-known example to date was the shareholder activism that used divestment to force the apartheid government of South Africa to abandon its heinous apartheid policy.  Subsequently, that government was forced to surrender power.

By applying this model to companies doing business in terrorist-sponsoring states, we hope to achieve a success no less momentous than that accomplished in South Africa.  All it will take is for Americans like you to feel empowered to play a role in the war on terror, to make known your views against investment in terrorist-sponsoring states and to use tools like those provided by DivestTerror.org to target and maximize the effectiveness of your activism.  Please visit this informative and useful site and to join in the campaign it is now waging to defeat those who threaten not only our lives, but those of our children and grandchildren, as well.

During 1999, I was at a meeting where some ex-intel types were talking about security in the Middle East. A Clintonite State Department tool was also present (on official capacity.) So this one intel guy got into a discussion with that Foggy woman on how the State dept has been undercutting the efforts to get Osama Bin Laden by rejecting to give permission for our folks to go to Saudi Arabia and the UAE on official capacity to follow certain leads or even push the Saudi or Emirate govt to co-operate. The State tool replied - "Oh, don't you realize that they are our allies and we cannot upset them?" When pressed, she said "Osama Bin Laden is a threat to Americans overseas at worst and is not worth jeopardizing our decades old alliances with these fishing expeditions."

De'ja frickin vu...

Yeah well did you read the FBI statement which said the camp in question was not in the tribal zone but on the outskirts of their frickin capital?

Also, please see my post here. We have been warning them about these camps but still they let them run and did not shut them down nor put their leader on a plane to Gitmo.

As someone who has worked for Intel for 15 years, I'm fairly convinced we have terrorists working for us in both Californa and Oregon.
The problem is trying to do anything about it could get me fired.

Fascinating post.

It will probably come to mind every time some idiot, either to my face or on this forum, comes back at me with "we must trust our leaders ... they knows things that we don't".

It'll be the death of us.

The fly paper for the islamists is in Iraq.

Yeah, your fly paper is American men and (I'm ashamed to say) women.

You disgust me.

True. The "they know more than us" argument does not work for general policy direction. If at all, they might apply to some peculiar and exceptional situations.

Thanks for pointing out those earlier posts (which I shamefully failed to appreciate before I posted)...

What a marroon I've been...imagining the Lodi Cell plotting to fly into a San Joaquin Valley water tower & failing to appreciate the much more significant target nearby...

Regards,

Hold you horses before you get our brave heroes involved in another hellhole. Musharraf is not exactly secure in that sad sorry state of his. Things are moving along as best as they can.
