Even if it were true, white Christians are still about 65% of the country. Thus, the problem.

Let's see - America started out as primarily a white Christian country, inviting all who wanted to join. Let's open our arms, as Reagan did, to all the disaffected Democrats to join our Christian party. Thanks, Howard, for moving this process along...

He's done it again! Dean must get his talking points from DU.
Howard Dean is the stupidest man in politics or he is a GOP mole.
To: SmithL
There are plenty of conservatives in the GOP who aren't particularly religious. I really didn't want Terry McAwful to step down, but I was wrong. Dean is even better for us.

Y'know, every time the Republicans in Congress start to peeve me enough to make me consider voting for an occasional Democrat, someone like Howard Dean says something that reminds me why I don't.

Well, I did some back-of-the-envelope calculations the other day, and I believe that President Bush carried the white Anglo vote in at least 44 of the 50 states, with only Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont and maybe Washington State and Oregon getting away. Bush got a huge majority of the white Christian vote, which is by far the largest voting bloc in the U.S. and which explains how he won a solid majority nationwide. Of course, Bush also did rather well among Hispanics and Asians, and did better among Jewish and black voters than any Republican since Reagan, so Dean's prejudiced statement is underinclusive, but Dean is certainly correct that the GOP owns the white Christian vote lock, stock and barrel. The question is, how is Dean fixing to win Heartland states for the Democrats (as he claims he will do) if he concedes the white Christian vote to the GOP?

Request to Howie Dean. Please don't blow your position before the 2008 election cycle. If you're intent to get blown out please try to last until the 2006 elections. The republican would be thrilled for you to hold some of these idiocies of yours until then. The public really needs to see what the democrat party is all about, but most don't pay attention when it's not an election cycle.
