John Kerry Reportedly To Present "Downing Street Memo" To Congress [Here we go!]
All Headline News ^ | June 5, 2005 | Douglas Maher

Washington,D.C. (AHN)- After remaining almost silent since losing the 2004 election by thirty four electoral votes, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts is reportedly planning to to present Congress with The Downing Street Memo, reported last month by the London Times.

The memo purports to include minutes from a July 2002 meeting with Tony Blair, in which Blair allegedly said that President Bush's administration "fixed" intelligence on Iraq in order to justify the Iraqi war. The Downing Street Memo is a leaked Top Secret document that  details the minutes of a 2002 meeting between top-level British and American government officials. The memo states that George Bush "was determined" to attack Iraq long before going to Congress with the matter, and that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Rumblings across Washington and the Internet claim this is a step from Democrats towards impeachment of President Bush. Fellow Democrat Rep. John Conyers of Michigan has issued a statement on the U.S. House of Representatives stating that he is seeking information regarding the meeting minutes. "I am seeking information regarding the charges made in the so-called “Downing Street Minutes” that there was a secret agreement between the U.S. and the U..K to invade Iraq by the summer of 2002, well before the president sought congressional authority." Conyers said. "Please provide us with any information or leads you might have regarding such a secret pre-war deal, or other efforts to manipulate intelligence or provoke a response to justify war. We will treat any information provided on this site as confidential. Thank you for your assistance in this important matter."

However, All Headline News has re-discovered that a bill signed by then President Clinton named "The Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998" gave President Bush all of the legal recourse necessary for the war. Stating directly from the bill: "Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 - Declares that it should be the policy of the United States to seek to remove the Saddam Hussein regime from power in Iraq and to replace it with a democratic government. " The H.R. 4655 law was signed into effect October 31,1998.

Republicans plan to issue a response to Senator Kerry by using his own words against him, a tactic used in the 2004 Election. Where Sen. Kerry was quoted as saying the war was justified and Saddam Hussein needed to be removed.

The 2004 election was a very pointy election. Maybe the Dems thought they could hypnotize us with their pointing fingers or something.

I've been waiting to see Kerry's complete military records ever since he promised Tim Russert on MTP (post election interview) that he would release everything. Come to think of it, I haven't heard a peep out of the MSM calling for Kerry to follow up on his promise, what a surprise that is (sarcasm).

They're so desperate they're willing to disregard a Clinton-era law just to get rid of Bush. Then again one can't exactly recall when scruples for the law have ever stopped them. All the same, Jean Francois Cheri's proposed impeachment bid is so much p*ssing in the wind.

I don't know the statement can be taken both ways but (having english parents) strongly hints that the decision was made and intelligence was fixed around a already decided course of action.

Question is, is this a big deal? Woodward already made this same point clear in his last book. Clark has already stated the same thing. It's not news....

Taking Iraq out of the middle-east equation should have been done years ago. Iraq was a threat and roadblock to progess in the middle east. This is fact, no need to fix any intelligence and no one tried or argued with this basic premise.

So the question is, is this news, the answer is no it's not.

The Dems will never get over losing the 2000 election. This is something that they will pass on to the future (de)generatations of Democrats.

So the question is, is this news, the answer is no it's not.

Agreed, but when the Dims and the MSM are grasping at straws it makes no difference to them. Thirty year old DWI's aren't news either, but it didn't stop 'em from trying to trash "W's" image with it some years ago. Their approach is to throw copious amounts of $hit on the wall in hopes that some of it will stick. Can't blame 'em for trying. Their utopian dream is heading for the rocks ;^)

" This memo is far from a "gotcha", but it won't stop the MSM from furiously stirring that bucket o' $hit. It's what they do."

Depending, of course, on who the target is.

It will come to this... make no mistake.

They have tried to push their socialist agenda with a smokescreen... and the smokescreen is being blown off! The MSM is backing them 100% and we have some 'toadies' of our own sitting in the Senate!

They will block and obstruct in order to make it seem that Republicans cannot effectively operate in the White House.

I liken this time in our history to the Wiemar years in prewar Germany... the street-fighting is soon to come.

This is Kerry announcing his run for President in 2008. Without the support of the whacky left he has no chance against the Hillary machine.
