An accident delayed the start of Caldwell's Albertson College of Idaho Graduation today.
Joining the graduates and faculty, you might call it a star-studded cast with commencement speaker, and the wife of former Presidential candidate John Kerry, Teresa Heinz Kerry.
She joined Idaho's J.R. Simplot and Esther Simplot in offering words of encouragement.
Mrs. Kerry talked about her appreciation of being able to see the stars again when she visits Idaho. "And if I were to wish on one today, I might wish that all Americans would commit to ensuring that each of us has access to a healthy and beautiful environment, and that all of you would join me in making that wish come true."
It was a statement that drew applause, and following her famed Idaho potato millionaire J.R. Simplot drew some laughs with his advice. "I just want to tell you kids...go out and get a hold of a piece of something, because anything you can get your hands on today is going to be worth a lot more tomorrow."
And he would know. This was the 114th commencement at Albertson College of Idaho.
It's the state's oldest and longest continuously accredited private liberal arts institution.
The average class size is about ten.
She sounds like Michael Jackson.........hey, did ya ever notice how they are never in the same room together?...
I had to read that again, to make sure it wasn't Bubba speaking.
Football season must be a b*tch.
Everybody knows Mrs. Skerry is an accident waiting for a place to happen.
Maybe it was those infamous raisins doing the talking.
LOL - good one bitt.
the accident. she must have gone ballistic, having to spend extra time in the heat hobnobbing with the unwashed...
Michael Jackson is prettier...
I hate false alarms.
heh-heh....another story...

JUNE 1, 2005
Heinz to Yammer at Yotes
BY NICHOLAS COLLIAS
If you've driven through Caldwell in the last several decades, you can probably guess that the town is not a haven of liberal activism. Anyone needing proof of this need only to take a gander at the town's most prominent landmark, an immense double-sided billboard that is updated regularly to convey the arch-conservative political mewling of local quasi-libertarian busybody Ralph Smeed. Well, Mr. S may have to construct another eyesore to convey his feelings about the news coming out of one of his favorite targets, the local cultural island of Albertson College of Idaho.
On June 4, the college will hold its annual graduation exercises, featuring a keynote address from Teresa Heinz (known for most of last year as "Teresa Heinz-Kerry"), philanthropist, first lady near-miss and a quotable gadfly in her own right. What wisdom Ms. Heinz will convey to the newly conferred is anyone's guess; in any event, she will be on the very short list of self-described "African-Americans" to address the graduates of Idaho's oldest liberal arts college. We just pray she won't feel the need to publicly describe herself that way again.
teresa and michael jackson are also both drunks... interesting.
They should have shown a Mickey Mouse cartoon while they waited it would have been more informative and a lot more entertaining
Must be awful hard up for a speaker to ask Momma T to speak.
Ah. My old Alma Mater...well, guess they'll be certain to not get any money from me now.
There were a few good teachers who cared about education, some loons who cared only about ideology, but mostly just low student teacher ratios. My advice. Go to Boise State University. Save your money.
It saddens me that the class picked this moron to speak.
When I graduated (1998), Simplot was there, too. He's pretty much out of it. Was surprised to see he could still make it.
There is no football at this particular school. Hell of a basketball program when I went there, though.
some Kerry dirt:

Rev Al Sharpton was among the 20 or so black leaders Sen. John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry invited to dinner at their D.C. home Wednesday.
Kerry also invited them to critique his failed presidential campaign. Several told him they'd wished he had waited longer before conceding Ohio and that he didn't reach out early enough to minority voters.
"He took the criticism very well," said Sharpton. "He gave no indication about whether he was going to run for President again."
Asked if he'd support the senator, Sharpton said, "I haven't decided whether I'm going to run again."
my brother works for JR.....as I recall, he made his millions/.billions with contracts with the military during WW2, and I also remember that he is an atheist.....
*****
Gin-soaked raisins please.
Pray for W and Our Troops
She'd probably like to swat the writer of this article for referring to her as "Mrs. Kerry."
Musta' been part of a contract deal to stock Albertsons stores with ketchup that forced the first lady runnerup to travel to the hinterlands.
