Lets all calm down here we do not know all the facts. It may well be a particular type of knife that is causing the problem and is being sold under the guise of a kitchen knife but in reality no one would use it for this purpose.
Rather than try to ban this it sounds as if a group of people have gone off on one also from my first look at this thread it is Scotland not England where unfortunately due to problems with drink especially at weekends I believe there is a high number of stabbings.
We unfortunately live in a nanny state not just the UK look at most countries and I do include the US in this think back to when you were a child were there all the kiddie proof stuff there is now. This is just another extension of it.
