Republicans vote in John McCain as the new Senate Majority Leader
I would bet the house that McCain will not, nor will he ever be elected Leader.
McCain pretty much committed political suicide this week.
You can put a fork in him, because he is D O N E...

Frist is bound by his word that the nuclear option was only regarding "judicial appointments."

Frist will not win on this one. I suspect the 7 Rinos are lined up with Voinovitch and will betray Frist. The WILL NOT vote for the nuclear option. Take that to the bank.

The Republican'ts fail to understand the RATs are waging a civil war against American values, against the Constitution (what is left of it, if anything), against the principles of our founding from our Founding Fathers, et al.

The Republican'ts keep talking like this is "just politics" but it is WAR. It is astounding that the spineless Republican'ts do not even know that war is being waged within this nation.

The two most dangerous words we have in our nation are "compromise" and "bipartisanship".

Where the Republican'ts made one of the biggest blunders of all time was when the caved-in on the filibuster issue, in great part due to a "threat" by the RATs to shut down the government. If the Republican'ts let the RATs shut down the government, even the clueless (that make up the majority of the people in this nation) would have pointed the finger at the RATs eventually for causing the Senate business to be shut down.

This is why the Republican'ts snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This was one of the greatest blunders in history.

I would think that they are probably thinking " The democrats didn't proclaim that they were filibustering this nomination- that's the rule- they have got to announce it- they have to SAY it FIRST- they didn't do that so our agreement is still in effect- besides this wasn't a judicial nomination and besides THAT we can't do anything unless the Moderate Seven let's us, we can talk to McCain, the Senate Majority Leader, to see if were are ALLOWED to do anything"

Note to graham: How does it feel to throw your whole political life away, FOR NOTHING?

"THE GOP NEEDS A NEW SENATE MAJORITY LEADER! PERIOD"

They have one, His name is John McCain and he abdicated his leadership to Harry Reid.

Can you people not read or hear? There have been numerous posters saying only judicial nominations were in the agreement and yet some Freepers continue to ignore. Do you know how stupid you are all making yourselves look?

I often wonder whether some of our fellow Freepers are actually the incestious offspring of the simplest of simpletons over at DU, who have no purpose here other than to make the rest of us look stupid.

If they actually use the nuclear option in the Senate I will be checking for sunrise in the West the next morning.

Yeah, but he's not a judge. Besides, if seven Republican senators were so anxious to avoid the nuclear "debacle," I'm not sure that Frist could get enough votes from the RINOs to pull it off.

The button is not there to push.

The Constitutional option was held open for judicial appointments at the beginning of this session. IOW, there was a place marker put in for it in this session's rules. To expand the rules to cover other appointments, it would take more than a simple majority to do what you expect.

You take the prize in this year's "Miss Naive" contest.

The Republican'ts are spineless and have no desire to fight for decency and common sense principles.

Conservatives have ZERO representation.

America is becoming a French-like, Canadian-like nation.

"THE GOP NEEDS A NEW SENATE MAJORITY LEADER! PERIOD"

What would somebody else do differently?

You think the 42 voters would behave differently with a different Republican Majority Leader? Dole? Lott?

Having said that, I don't see Frist as being much of a leader of anything, clearly not Presidential material.

He may be the last to know, however.
