Good morning all. Senate convenes at 9:30 am this morning, to vote on the nomination of Priscilla Owen. I've started the thread early, as I have to leave for a few hours, but also to give us a place to start commenting early on the events of yesterday....
You think FR and True-Blue Conservatives are upset? You ain't seen angry if you haven't monitored the libs!!!
You can't underestimate the impact that thrusting Owen/ Pryor/ Brown onto these Fed Courts is having on them and their whole agenda and the way their world is crashing down them --- the realization that they no longer are the majority party ---
These are HUGE events to them - for us it is simply justice.
Vote at 12:00 Eastern! Reid is on the edge, I think Frist may push him over the edge today!
It's possible that, despite the deal, Graham won't be able to vote against Frist if the latter activates the destruct sequence countdown. If Graham then goes back on the MOU, DeWine will also slither back in his shadow. That would mean Frist breaks the filibusters and makes McCain look foolish all in one shot. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I agree...Frist made them paint themselves into a corner. Sometimes, patience appears as inaction.
Oh, good! Sometimes I hate being out here on the Left Coast while the fur is flying on the East Coast.
"NJ Votes:
Senator Corzine: No
Pretend-ator Lautenberg:No"
Corzine - Yes
Lautenberg - No
Corzine is a lock for Governor. He is not going to do anything that can be used against him.
The GOP is right on the issue. He figures when push comes to shove, right will out. Now it is all about timing, and I think he knows how to pull those levers too.
Fur is flying! Corzine up to Whine!
Darn...you said it before I could!!!!!!
I believe Graham believes. I just am wary if Graham doesn't have enough street smarts to know when he is being rolled.

Graham gave away his junior status when he said to journalists, as reported in an article in the Washington Times:
Sen. Lindsay Graham, the South Carolina Republican who helped craft the compromise that effectively scuttles several of President Bush's judicial nominees and saves others, said he hopes the White House has learned a lesson.
"The White House has to more closely collaborate with the Senate," Mr. Graham said, adding that if Mr. Bush had employed a little more personal charm and politics, he might have had his way.
"If we talk more, we'll get a better result," Mr. Graham said. "Talking helps. This president is a wonderful person to speak to in person. I think this gives [Mr. Bush] a fresh start."

Lindsay Graham sounds like the little kid who repeats what the adults were saying when they did not realize that the children were listening. His remarks are like a video into those meetings of the egotistical 14 who all think they are equal or better than President Bush at running the country.
From your keyboard to God's ears!
Yep, I visited DU and CFA (after which I showered and liberally scoured myself), and they are livid and confused.
Don't be silly, of course I've been disgusted with the RATS, but we expect their behavior. I was looking for leadership and continuity from the Republicans and they disappointed.
And how has this "deal" (wow, what a deal!) helped the situation in the long run? The filibuster WILL be employed again, the Pubs still won't be able to deal with it. They couldn't then and now they will be and indeed are in a weaker position.
The Pubs blinked not the RATS. The RATS are the victors in this case. They've gained time. Putting off difficult decisions is frequently not a good policy. It will be no easier in the future, possibly even more difficult.
Soros in training.
Corzine is whining that the nuclear option is still on the table. He is "troubled."
Exactly --- chew on it a bit --- let it up to skitter away --- POUNCE again --- toss it up --- ...
God Forgive him, but I bet he will be smiling during a private time tonight - and hopefully for most of the rest of the year.
HEH!! HEH!! I bet he also told Senator McTraitor, "You do know John, I hold the tie breaking vote."
No fur flying yet. Just sweat.
Meant to add that even Lindsey Graham admits his concern that future nominees will be slimed mercilessly by the RATS. Yup, this is certainly a great solution we've been given here, yessirreee.....
