I don't believe that there is any secret agreement, but time will tell...

He's taking a page out of Kerry's playbook I see......... Which is so faded, nobody can see the margin notes saying that it doesn't work. Oh well; those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it.

I'm going to agree with you. She's messed up her bases with this anti-any-Bush nominee farce.

I agree. This will show how far back to the 'old' Senate they're willing to go.
I would predict high '70s, so I'll say 78. Might be that many suicides over at DU too!

Thanks for all you have done. Truth be known, I do most of it for myself - from time to time I get a case of curiosity for understanding. Trying to compose simple, coherent explanations helps me reach understanding, and has a side benefit of challenging my communication skills.
As for the Macomb nomination, thanks go to Sacajaweau for noting that a Macomb had a nomination put to a motion to table. All I did was wonder how the Senate would have handled a nomination in the time before cloture.

Obama on yammering about nuclear proliferation. (Aren't they supposed to be talking about Priscilla Owen?) The Senate shifts from "morning business" to "executive session" depending on what is ready for action. Some of the Senators have made a point of having their time assigned to the post-cloture debate. THey are all itcing to get this out of sight for awhile ;-)

We will know very soon - within weeks.
As far as "upside" - which Red State is she going to win if she continues to obstruct the judicial philosophy they want to see? Which of the Demodog's coalition of special interest groups is she going to lose the support of if she decides to vote for those two women?

and protected the party from horrible ad attacks in 2006. That's the most important part of the deal. I digress.
Talking points for the 2006 elections is not the most important part of the deal.

Good point..the Dems will, I believe, end up screwing this up and shooting themselves in the foot with this compromise..Remember, they screwed the pooch with the Wellstone Memorial..their overt political display may well have cost them a few Senate seats..
