I have no idea what is occuring behind closed Republican quarters, but I would just about guarentee G.W.B. is going to unlash hell on McCain when he least expects it. G.W.B. holds a grudge, and unlike McCain, his attacks don't just nick the opponent but take them out for good.

You're getting three of your nominees and you've got Lindsey Graham on Hannity basically saying "look, if the Senate votes on three right-wing judges, well, that's hardly an extraordinary circumstance now. So if the Dems play games we can still go nuclear."

Either he didn't read what he signed, or he's lying. The agreement pledges the signatories, which includes Graham, to oppose any rule change for the rest of the 106th Congress. No "unless the other side abuses the filibuster" or other such phrase, unlike the "no filibusters" except under "extraordinary circumstances" provision.

* Politicians and the media have a strange way of twisting reality and in the end they may try to place McCain is a positive light because, if the dem's break the agreement by threatening a filibuster over a lesser nominee than those that are about to go through then they can say it was this broken agreement/olive branch by Republicans that opened the flood gates for all Bush appointments and the nuclear option and putting the dem's in serious retreat. *

Yep, they both do a good job of twisting reality, big time. I like what you said above. It's an interesting theory.

Like you, I have no use for McCain. He constantly undermines everything Bush does. McCain has been doing this type of thing for years though. McCain loves the limelight, so it might be more about him wanting the MSM attention, verses getting back at Bush. Or it could be a combination of both.

I'm really tired of the typical MSM spin. They continue to mislead the public and make them think it's the Republicans who are doing something unfair. I was disgusted with the recent polls that showed the Demos were favored to run the Senate over the Republicans. Those polls are false, imo, and are used to further distort the truth.

MSM ----> DNC

Professional spinner, are you?

What a load!

Graham is a slimy, roadkill 1/2 wit. McCaine is an egomaniac, principleless, power hungry, crooked, vengeful toad.

The Dems who signed on to this "compromise" won't stand by the words on the paper.

McCaine-Feingold anyone? 'Nough said!

What this gang of 14 did was a coup de tat; plain and simple. Will it stand ? I don't know. It will, as long as the GOP remains spineless wonders. The Constitution was just shredded and YOU are celebrating and painting smiley faces on a tragedy.

I am so frustrated! Bill pull the trigger!

It would misfire, he no longer has the votes for a rule change, thanks to McStain and the sellout six.

He told O'R that the group of 14 were a sort of third party and that is was the party of the (oh gosh I forgot the exact word), but it was not moderate but it was clear that Morris thinks this group is TERRIFIC....

He said that not only did they accomplish something wonderful with the compromise last night, but that THIS group could eventually take over and get Social Security, tax reform, health care taken care of because they are able to work together to get stuff done...

Unlike the extremists on either side---I guess like Frist, Santorum, Cornyn, Sessions, .....these people are enlightened.. blah, blah, blah,,,

BTW, just checked the House of Rep---the bill passed to fund embryonic stem cell research---damn.

But, Mike Pence and the Rep. Weldon of Florida got a bill passed that uses umbilical cord blood for research that is separate....they are sure that Bush will sign theirs...

Bush has already said he would veto the other one...

Calm down, this is all moving forward for us!

Moving forward? Slugs move forward, but they dry up before they get there.

Nuking Dems would have gotten us there.

Rush was saying earlier the agreement says that the Constitutional Option CANNOT be used again for a year and half.

That's what the agreement says alright. Or more properly that the slimy seven won't vote to change the rules, which is enough votes to prevent the rules from being changed. Thus the nuclear option is now a fizzle, not even that really more a dud, until the end of the 106th Congress.

You're so right Soul Seeker, this is not the end of the story just another chapter in the Bush presidency. There is more than one way to get even in politics.

McCain is in no man's land right now, he doesn't have a party that claims him.

The W.H. will take McCain out at a time of their choosing.

As I said, he won't see it coming and neither will we.

The constitutional option can be used if the dems try to filibuster one of Bush's nominees....

" I'll support REAL conservatives individually but not a dime to the RNC because I refuse to let my money go to the seven. "

I plan to do the same. In fact, Delay will be at the top of my list of individuals to support. He is a true conservative and that's why the MSM and the Demos attack him.

The Constitutional Option IS still on the table

But it will be a dud as long as the 7 uphold the agreement. (assuming no 'rat defections)

Be nice to run into a fellow FReeper in Boulder. Could you imagine the flames that would shoot out of people's heads on Pearl Street if they knew there were FReeper there?! LOL!

Hey, that's an idea. A FR rally on Pearl Street Mall!

I knew it.

Typical Morris.

I wonder how Morris thinks they will get anything done when their constituents throw them out of office?

I saw the passage of the bill. they didn't have 2/3'rds of the House. That means if the Senate passes it and G.W. vetoes it, it's dead unless the House can up their tally.
