Sorry, but the analogy regarding the police officer does not hold weight here. The police officer's duties are spelled out as are the duties and powers of the federal Constitutional officers; in this case the Senate.

I don't care that Graham cares about what 7 democrats are going to do. Senator Graham should have held firm with Senator Frist.

Look at it this way - should democrats engage in continual filibusters on every judge, it would only prove to the American public that it is about power, ideology and not upholding either the law or the Constitution. Democrats would then also lose the PR wars.

No. Oregon does not have open primaries although there is usually a proposal to change that. The rational in the Republican Party is "why would we want Democrats and Independents selecting our nominees.
