Filibuster deal: Freepers, please "hold your powder"
n/a | 05/24/05 | jdsteel

Before we explode in disgust about the RINO defectors, please consider this: IF the nominated judges get an up or down vote, we win. If a nominated judge gets blocked by filibuster again, we can still "pull the trigger" on the constitutional option...this time with "betrayed and outraged moderates" leading the way. As much as I want to just respond to this emotionally, I am trying to show patience to see how this pans out over the next month. I also am looking forward to seeing how the DUmmies seeth as judges are nominated. So, please, "hold your powder" but keep your eye on the target.

Many of us felt that way after the impeachment betrayal.

You can't put this to a logic test. The Democrats caved big time, and their Rino friends let them put on a face saving show.

We conservatives are pissed becasue we wanted wholesale, unmistakable, unambiguous Democrat humiliation, and McCain didn't let us get it.

We just have to make sure that his political ambitions get him nowhere.

Ditto other spineless wimps.

But, bottom line is that we get our judges. We can humiliate the Democrats later when we celebrate victorious vote after victorious vote.

We now have an appropriate moniker for these traitors:
THE SEVEN DWARVES.

Let's keep waiting and waiting for Bush to be allowed to fill slots in the federal judiciary with conservative judges with a compromise here and Democrats allowing one or two there. Before too long Republicans won't have a President to fill those slots anymore - it might be Hillary in his place and, of course, Republicans will passively sit back and consent to all of her far-left nominees - the filibuster the pusillanimous seven have worked so hard to preserve as a "right" won't even be an option.

I'll give you credit for courage posting this, what with tempers running so high. It is extremely 'disappointing' to say the least to have been the Senate majority party for years and still act like the minority.

I was willing to let impeachment slide because we simply didn't have the real majority then.

We have it now.

And it is meaningless.

So what's the point of letting them keep it.

Oh ... please!

Ask yourself one redundant question ...

If it looks like, and talks like, and acts like, what could it possibly be?

Take your time. It's a real puzzler.

Yep, and when this happens, and it WILL happen, the "moderates" will have the political cover they need. Also, they will need to b*tch-slap the Democrats for making them look like dupes and morons.

Have to disagree with you. Horse trading with a select few Democrates in the Senate over a few nominations and all future nominations when you could have had all or nearly all of your nominations approved on a full Senate vote is not winning.

Next, there was no filibuster, not a real one.

Well, OK. But seething is good.

I want to tell those incompetents that they did a masterful job of...

snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

Losing is not a bad thing if, and only if it is at the end of a good fight; the best effort.

If this is the best that they can do, I am preparing for something else and soon.

I can't follow the hearings. Work and other "useless" stuff. But I want to be prepared to pull the trigger and send off an individual message to each and every RINO on the committee personally thanking them, and personally promising to do everything necessary to make sure they are are defeated or forgotten, whatever the case may be.

Can someone post the names of the Republican Committee members?

I tend to agree with you. W gets his three 'most extreme' judges, and we can still blast the filibuster. That said, the RNC may get $$$$ from me, but not for the Senate.

Good plan! Rather than giving to the RNC, pick and choose who you will contribute to. The grassroots really needs to gear up in the Republican primaries to get the wimps out of office, but still maintain the majority.

Only if two of the seven RINOs vote for them.

McVain...It's hard to imagine having more disdain for this political traitor. Yeah, yeah he served in Vietnam, was a prisoner... yadda, yadda, yadda.

But he is doing more damage to this country than help. God, I hate self-serving politicos.

But, bottom line is that we get our judges.

We've lost two -- maybe five -- out of eight.

And that's just this opening round.

How you can paint that as victory is flabbergasting.

Next, there was no filibuster, not a real one.

And they never will be. The "real" filibuster no longer exists, and hasn't existed for years.

Hold my powder huh? Oh well.. too late. Last night I called McCain's office and left a message %^$#$* you, you ^%$%*ing %$#$* spineless @#$%^ %^&*ing piece of ^&%$%& scum.

Please understand I meant that I am fighting the urge to react against the entire Republican party for this. I'd have preferred to go "nucular"! I feel exactly the same as you about McCain. I'm just totally freakin' amazed that one of my senators, Arlen Specter, isn't in with the 7 RINO's. I'm just trying to show some patience here. FOR NOW. UNTIL. WE'LL SEE.

Unfortunately, you can't earmark your contributions to the RNC by individuals. It all goes into the pot.

Sometimes, I'll get a fund-raising call from Republican House or Senate re-election committees. Sometimes from my state Republican Committee. If you just pay attention to who's calling you can be discriminatory regarding which group you chose to contribute.

Me? I send any extra pesos to Free Republic. Can you imagine how vital FR will be when Hillary officially becomes the 'Rat candidate?

Think, folks, think.

I am going to hold my fire on this one. We're getting three strong judges and "extreme circumstances" has yet to be determined. Because that has not been defined, I think it is clear that the constitutional option remains available for use if that definition is applied where it is not appropriate.

And a side benefit is that incumbent RINOs will now actually have opposition in their next primaries and we shall see if the voters really want a change.

Benefit #2, John McCain will never be President.
