'This is a BIG loss for us. We get NOTHING.
There is no way that the president is behind this.'

You don't think so??? Bush has to know all about this sham.

What makes you so certain that any deal over President's nominees was done without the consent of the White House?

Whether you like it or not McKain leads. Frist wrings his hands.

Yep. This undermines Frist; he couldn't get this deal done.

The Dems got nothing. The Republicans get three, and can always shoot the filibuster in the future.

So nothing's changed. Or, rather, we get Owen, Brown, and Pryor, and then the Dems will take up the filibuster again, charging "extradinary circumstances," with the hope that because they let three through, they'll regain the PR advantage and this time make the filibuster stick. That's how I'm reading it.

I know, and I hate it. McCain hopes to run for President, Frist is waiting to run home to do his next operation.

"This has NOTHING to do wih Frist. "

It has everything to do with Frist. Lucky Pierre is supposed to be Majority Leader. He is not leading. He is retreating.

Fence sitter DeWine trying to cover his arse saying he would have voted for cloture had they not been able to compromise.

the negotiators must first convince each other that each will act in good faith in the future and that his or her judgment will be honest, not just political

The Republicans negotiating for a compromise want to respect the Senate's tradition of the filibuster, but they also want some assurance that Democrats won't use it much.

"Sounds like this isn't a compromise, but a truce, until the next big battle. Nothing's been resolved."

That's what I'm seeing. What a waste of time. The Rats are going to filibuster when they d*mn well please. Were I W, I'd have a sh*t list of these RINOS that refuse to give the WH the courtesy of an up or down vote on nominees. Sheesh. My wallet is snapped shut for a while, that's for sure...

This is a goofy "deal" I think all it does is delay the option, not get rid of it..

It sounds like the Democrats blinked. I really wanted payback for the last couple of years of obstruction, but maybe this is the best way. Now that they know that the republicans are ready to pull the trigger maybe we don't need to.

This was simply a PUNT by the RHINO's - But all in all the GOP got by far the better end and the DEM's pretty much got nothing!!

We got all our judges through but two - Plus we have the right to change the rules later if (when) the DEM's filibuster a Supreme Court nominee. But that can be dealt with then.

The answer is not to get mad at the GOP as a whole (this isn't GWB fault nor the other 44 strong GOP'ers in the Senate).

We simply have a few RHINO's to beat in the primaries. That's all - No big deal - This is a long battle and we are winning -

So many on here need to cowboy the fk up and stop whining every da*m time something doesn't go 100% our way!! - (we know we have some RHINO's to take out....so be it)
