Now I am convinced more than ever that she didn't.

So do I.

I say this agreement gives us the most profit.

We get the votes on all except perhaps two judges.

We also get other legislation passed the Dims could have bottled up had we not given them this false victory.

But today, the DEMs agreed to take the vote. The trigger disappeared.

Yes, that is my point. The question of filibuster will only come up when they actually do it again. Frist will probably not pull the trigger for anything but a judicial nominee. Bolton might be a test case for the Democrats.

I'm not talking about last week. I'm talking about those who wish he had pushed the button 2 or 3 weeks, maybe a month ago. It would have not been possible. Even then, Frist did not have the votes to make any of this happen in Republicans favor without risking huge political consequences. Instead of 7 defectors to the cause, there were 12 GOP "fencesitters", veritable "unknowns" if you will, seven of those ended up defecting.

After reading the compromise, we really are back where we started except they just gave us a 3 run or 7 run lead, depending on how you look at it.

Is this becoming more and more like Star Wars? Who is the Chancellor?

Well, Robert Byrd and Ian McDiarmid do look like they were SAB, though McDiarmid was much more mobile...however, in terms of being a Trojan horse, Dingy gets the Chancellor's role.

Which is a heck of a lot better than where we were this morning.

The appellate courts are almost evenly divided right now. If we really can get 6 or 7 new appointees through, we'll be in control of the federal judiciary for the first time in decades.

I'd rather be in our shoes than the Democrats' anyday.

I am sorry to burst your bubble. The Dems have seized control of the Senate. No legislation will get out of the Senate that doesn't satisfy Harry Reid. Also, what all but two judges are you talking about? I heard three out of seven. Well, really three out of ten since three of them have taken themselves out of contention.

They've now turned the consent of the full body into the consent of 14. Nes pas?

Nope. Whatever deals they made are meaningless. The vote is what counts. Let us count the votes that each of those 3 get. How credible with the Democrats be when the nominees get, say, 70 votes? Democrats are going to look pretty stupid. The have just delayed very qualified people 2 years.

And this is what they think of one of them so Scalia and Thomas are not exceptional.

Judicial Nominee Janice Rogers Brown - To the Right of Thomas and Scalia

I fear, with politics being what they are, that Bush, et al, may have figured this was the best they could get...Frist didn't have 50 or 51 votes, and they would bluff the Dems into an agreement which gets his top three nominees through, undercutting the Dems' ability to object to Owen and/or Brown going to the Sup. Court....In my wildest dreams, this is a major coup, the results of which will be played out in the next year or so. I hope. Or maybe not. Time will tell. Regardless, this is not the end of the war.

So instead we get, what seven judges.
=======
I really don't care about THESE judges, I am looking towards the Supreme Court appointment. Get rid of the Filibuster now and then start twisting arms. Don't wait till the last second. Smoke out the traitors. Without the Filibuster we need 51 votes. Thus - Nuke em.

If we don't get the 51 votes, get a new Senate Leader and try again. This time get the President involved 100 percent. Put social security on the back burner and bring out the White House Flamethrower.

This agreement/capitulation just gives the dems legitimacy when the start screaming about the next appointments.

Instead of concentrating on denouncing judicial filibusters, focus on denouncing the filibuster in general as one of the most anti-democratic things .

I don't drink alcoholic beverages and I don't "lose control". But nice try. Oh, and FWIW, you've been here long enough to know that you are supposed to ping someone, when you're talking about them.

"Megalomaniac"? Apparently the meaning of that word is foreign to you. :-)

No, I really don't know EVERYTHING; however, I know far more about politics than those who who attempt to argue against and/or besmirch me.

And yes, you bet I fight back and always aim for the jugular. :-)
