Those FReepers (not you, but they know who they are) should look into a mirror if they want to blame someone for the problems in getting the Const. option through. The Constitutional Nuclear Byrd Option is under the control of the opposition, it is under the control of the people who abuse parliamentary procedure. Just like your kids are in charge of when they get spanked.
But this issue is not going to go away quietly. Myers and Bolton are on the Senate's executive calendar. With the Senate vote on them? Well? And what if it refuses to grant unanimous consent to vote on either of those nominations? Does the GOP cave then? If so, then it HAS caved on the princile. But so far it has not, and indications are that it will not. Not without putting the Senators on record.

Graham interpreted it that way when I heard him on CNN. And you still trust Lindsey Graham?
To: All
Here's a question for everyone: Why elect Republicans to office if they are going to vote like liberals? The Republican party isn't going to get a dime more from me until these RINOs are kicked out.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Same here.
That bloviating, incoherent yarn he tried to spin still rankles me.
I know, I know.
The entire Democratic Caucus-with the exception of Russ Feingold-had already made their mind(s) up.
But still, his had to be the single worst speech by any of the House Managers.
And I'm including the one delivered by Cong. Chabot.
AND I FELL ASLEEP LISTENING TO HIM!
That should tell ya something about Lindsay Graham's rhetorical skill.
:7)
To: nopardons
??? Guess you don't remeber Lott very well. Frist pushed it and pushed hard. The seven will face the music and the battle will go on.

Have you read the agreement yet? It's BAD!

I've never 'trusted' Graham.....I was merely reporting what he said.

It sure is pathetic.
God Lord - when have the Dems ever played ' fair ' or ' Nice when we extend the olive branch?
Oh please, give me break. Exactly right, everyone knows they don't play fair or keep their word. What a joke. They're going to let all the nominations go through this time, but wait until the nominations for Supreme Court Judges come up... their extraordinary circumstances will be alive and kicking big time!
To: JulieRNR21
"The agreement was based on the Rats keeing their side of the DEAL....if they don't..... then the way I read it....the RINOs can nuke them..."
Oh, yes. Just wait; if the Dems screw us one more time then we'll really get mad!

These sorts of shenanigans would have never occurred under the watch of Senate Majority Leader Dole.
Or, for that matter, the man who was his handpicked successor, the great Alan Simpson.
To: Fledermaus
That is too scary to contemplate. However, I don't think he could make a 3rd party work.

What makes this agreement between just a small number of Senators binding?
This block of senators now control the Senate. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have enough votes to override their objection. While the document is not legally binding, it is politically binding. You cannot change your stance and violate the agreement without taking a serious hit in credibility. Why would anyone take you seriously, if you refuse to deliver on what you so publically signed onto.

Thanks for using an allegory that is precisely to the point.
The Democrats have gotten away with murder, and we have people on FR patting the Repubs on the back for it.
