Announce Filibuster Compromise
I agree. We should take a pool on how soon the Dems violate their "word." McCain and Company will, of course, honor their's....but they place their honor upon dishonorable ends.
Resign from chairmanships, cease money and find opponents for the RINO's. They flipped us off and think they on't face consequence? maybe not from the Party but I'm sure as hell going to make them pay.
"The Republicans caved-in over Marxist Souter's nomination."
Do you mean Breyer, nominated by Clinton, rather than Souter, nominated by the first Pres. Bush?
Scratch President Lindsey Graham from the list too.
Here's a laugher ...

That might be precisely the dilemma Frist faced tonight. He didn't have the votes after learning these seven only sought compromise and face time.
I can top you both, I have the hildebeast and little chuckie.......I have it worse than either of you.
Between the House and the Senate, I might have all of you beat...Boxer...Pelosi...Harman...Maxine Waters...Feinstein...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHH!!!
There is a LOT of freaking wiggle room in that language that the Dems and their media buddies will exploit to restart this whole filibuster charade again the minute ANY Supreme Court nominee is sent up.
It all sounds good right now but just consider how much the Dems have already gotten by stringing out the current situation for MONTHS! One is a FOOL if they think the Dems will now all go quietly. They will cook up some lame excuse why some nominee is an "extraordinary circumstance" and the media will help push the sham along as they always do.
And what about Meyers and Saad? Who are they? And why are these humans, who volunteered and put their lives on hold for this sham process, merely tossed overboard!?
I completely agree with you. Frist apparently (since I haven't seen the clip yet) said today that he was not party to this "deal," which only tells me that he has no control over his caucus.
I agree. The DU is having a total fit over this as well; this is no Democrat victory. At worst, this is a battle delayed, not a battle lost.
The Dems are allowed to have the filibuster provided they don't use it. If they use it, the Const Option goes back on the table.
All the drama queening going on seems rather pointless. People claiming they are going to quit the party and so forth, now THAT would hand a victory to the Dems.
Thanks for posting the full text of the MOU.
It just makes me ill.
If you read it carefully, the ONLY thing the Dems promised is to let 3 (THREE) judges get the up and down vote.
The "extraordinary circumstance" is left to the Dems DISCRETION.
In return for getting THREE judges voted on, the Republicans GAVE AWAY for the duration of the entire Congress the right to eliminate the filibuster on judicial nominees.
As someone pointed out earlier, we have a new majority: the DEMOCRATS, aided and abetted by a bunch of RINO Senators.
I can see 2-3 or 4 defecting to the Democrats, but SEVEN?!
Frist should have kept tighter control on these people. I can't imagine, how 7 Republicans could defect to the Democrats. They DEFIED the will of the people who elected them as Republicans.
Interesting analysis, and at this point, you may be spot on. This McCain and Company "deal" is just that -- a deal between the Quislings and the Democrat Wormtongues. Neither Frist nor Bush should abide by it, if it means bigger trouble down the road.
Here's my definitions!
Extraordinary circumstances = pro life; pro gun ownership
extreme = a trail (however short) of conservative judicial opinions;
Acceptable attributes: pro abortion; gay rights and anti 2nd Amendment
I csn't help but think they underestimated the outrage this would bring in the base. Those guys did some serious damage to any greater ambitions they may have had, and I can't believe they did so knowingly.
I mean, what did they get in return?
This is the period when you fight, in the odd numbered years. You play along in the even numbered years.
Weird.
The hell of it is that I am for the most part less exercised about judicial issues than the average Freeper but I have seldom been more angry.
The most repeated phrase in the press conference was that the deal was "good for the Senate." Screw you! How about good for the party, or more importantly, good for the country! Novel idea there. These Republican idiots are foremost concerned about their little club. They got taken plain and simple.
I read on another thread about sending back trash in the postage paid envelopes sent by unwanted junkmailers so that they'd get hit for the postage. Sends a good message...
You don't get it do you? There is no NUKE option anymore. 7 turncoat RINOs have shown they cannot be trusted to adhere to partisanship. Instead they traded that for primetime face time. It's about THEM, not the party.
We'll see how this works out. I am not sure that the impact is as simple as preventing GOP-led rule change in 109th without having any impact on how Dems deal with future nominees. A literal reading of this agreement might lead to that conclusion, but that won't matter if Dems simply take "extraordinary" to mean they will just filibuster whoever the heck they want.
Here's the names:
McCain, Lindsay Graham, John Warner, Mike DeWine, Lincoln Chaffee, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe.
Now, look who didn't join 'em: Spector.
Must not have foud any Scottish law...lol.
