You may be right about the destruction of the party. Tonight I resigned from my city committee and county committee. Between the RINO infestation, our leadership deficite and immigration, there is nothing to fight for in the Republican party. One more conservative who surrendered his post
I'm still amazed we ever won the Revolutionary War.
To: Bombardier
I like your sincerity. It's time to let the RNC know what the real base thinks about a bunch of panty-waists thumbing their nose at the Constitutions. The fact that we are even debating the idea that ALL judicial candidates deserve an up or down vote is a historical shame. The Democraps have once again perverted the will of the Founding Fathers and our side simply reacted by wimping out....yet again.

Extraordinary circumstances = pro life; pro gun ownership extreme = a trail (however short) of conservative judicial opinions; Acceptable attributes: pro abortion; gay rights and anti 2nd Amendment. Yep, I have no illusions but Frist still has only about 48 votes.
To: Jim Verdolini
Quite an over-reaction, I'd say.......

Frist is worthless and the President is now a lame duck.Frist had nothing to do with this closed door compromise session, and the President is not a lame duck. You're aiming your anger in the wrong direction.

Yes, but we traded this for possibly two Supreme Court nominees.
To: econ_grad
Bingo! That's ALL it would've taken - a clear, concise message from the National leadership that ANYONE voting against their party gets ZIP, ZERO, NOTTA - and they will fund the opposition candidate.
Yet, NO-ONE - not Dubya, not Rove - did SQUAT to get the RINOs in line. TOTAL AND COMPLETE FAILURE!!
OTOH, You betcha this is what the Dems did. And worse.

Let's take what they've given by means of retreat, and then fight them at that point.
In the words of Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, "I don't like to pay twice for the same real estate." We're just going to have to re-fight the RATs again....and that wimp Frist is no Patton. McConnell or Allen should lead this fight....Frist is no leader!

" the two-page memorandum of agreement, which cited "mutual trust and confidence.""
Reminds me of the Ancient Chinese war story: Two prince's armies meet across the river from each other. The 1st prince tells the 2nd to cross the river so they can meet for battle. The 2nd prince complains, "no, you'll attack my men while crossing the river". The 1st prince replied "No, we are men of our word and must fight with honor on the field of battle. Your men may cross the river unmolested" The 2nd prince's army proceeds to cross the river and is promptly slaughterd before reaching the opposite bank.

The fact that the Republicans wouldn't stand together today has given the Democrats a win. There is no other way to look at this except as a significant defeat for the Republicans. Here's another way to look at it:
The fact that the Democrats wouldn't stand together today has given the Republicans a win. The moderate Democrats, worried about the political ramifications of continuing to stonewall President Bush's judicial nominees caved and agreed to stop using the Unconstitutional tactic. When they agreed to do so, they found seven moderate Republicans to give them some cover with this compromise as long as they stop the filibusters.

Yep, I have no illusions but Frist still has only about 48 votes.
That gives Frist, Rove, and Bush exactly 12 hours to either swing 2 votes or surrender the agenda.
