What is so d*mned complicated about voting UP or DOWN? The pathetic dems can voice their disent by voting "NO". Everyone gets a one-word chance to show his approval or disapproval MINUS the endless repetitions of bogus "facts".

Still haven't responded to mine - so you are saying that the entire committee approval system is unconstitutional?

Anything short of an up or down vote on the floor by ALL the senators on all the nominees NOW is not acceptable to me.
I'm sick to death of compromising with this pack of liars.

12 absent Senators indicates Senators who did not want to go on the record. They were probably not in favor of Fortas, because if they were in favor of him they would not have stayed away from the Senate floor.

I think we are just agreeing with each other on this point. The president deserves to have his nominees voted on, as a matter of Constitutional principle.
The point is argued, obviously. I also find myself moving into other related aguments and discussion, some of which invlove how the Rules paly, and others that consider how parliamentary procedure plays.

Kristol is smarmy. He was saying that he himself preferred an end to judicial filibusters, and yet you could clearly see that he was hoping for "a deal." He stopped short of predicting that there would be a deal. In fact, he was wandering all over the place, essentially taking 3 or 4 minutes to say nothing.
I think all Kristol has is wishful thinking, rather than hard info that the compromise talks are still alive.

NO ONE, especially people who can't lead, have control over me. I can't believe the GOP WILL lose this historic opportunity to shape the courts for years to come, but if they DO, I'm gone.

He says the rumor is pretty much the same old deal except change 'extreme' to 'extraordinary' but the couldn't define 'extraordinary' (big surprise there eh?).

I wouldn't be surprised to see the RATS start voting for cloture and allow candidates to be voted-on one-by-one. Each would be subjected to this posturing and bolivating followed by a cloture vote and passage.
They are just delaying and hoping their media butt-wipes will wear down the people.
