Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
Let's hope something actually gets done today.
hahahahaha!
I was surprised by the appearance my Senator, Arlen Specter. He's looking pretty bad, with the bald head and all. I guess the cancer treatments are hitting him hard.

To those RINO Senators trying to work out a so-called "compromise" with the Dems, in which they give up everything while merely "trusting" the Dems NOT to filabuster in the future except in "extraordinary" situations (whatever the hell THAT means) , remember ther word of the Giipper:
"TRUST", BUT VERIFY!!!
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1406130/posts
In 1975 the Senators changed the filibuster requirement from 67 votes to 60, after concluding that it only takes a simple majority of Senators to change the rules governing their proceedings. As Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield (D-MT) said at the time: "We cannot allow a minority" of the senators "to grab the Senate by the throat and hold it there." Senators Leahy, Kennedy, Byrd, and Biden, all agreed.
There will also be a couple of folks on WJ this morning to talk about the internet response to the debate.
I will be actively funding and supporting primary challengers to any Republican involved in such a shameful compromise. And I will not forget about this.
Grrrr.
Neither will I.
I won't be back until afternoon but I will read everything that occured today.
UP AND DOWN VOTES> ON ALL JUSTICES> NO TRADED VOTES ON THE SENATE FLOOR
ANYONE that betrays us on this issue will not escape retribution even if their election is six years from now. Read our words Reps. We're deadly serious about this, just ask Daschle.
WE KNOW all those Justices are qualified and have the votes. Anything less than confirmation of all will signal their reputations have been brokered away in a power deal. NO DICE.
A 60 vote majority that includes a bunch of RINO's is almost like no majority at all. Other than setting the course, we are impotent to enforce it. We need to concentrate on replacing the RINO's.
"My suggestion is that we work towards a 60 VOTE Republican Majority.. then we can work on replacing the RINOS..."
THIS is the winning formula. Recall when the Democrats had more than 60 Senators during the '60s and before? That's when they really got things done.
Thank God for Goldwater, Helms, and later Reagan - that juggernaut would still be churning...
A winning forumula is 60 conservatives that will not broker away power for attention in the MSM. We don't have that.
No, I am going to begin work to jettison RINO's in '06 and anyone that works against these Justices. We either have a real Majority or we do not.
Agreed - IN SPADES.

I wonder if they think we don't have the stamina to exact retribution down the line? If so, I wish to remind them that Thune was robbed of his first win. We came back in years and toppled Daschle.
The President was given over a 20% increase in his vote and about 4 million over Kerry in the popular vote so we would never again here this term 'slected not elected'. I waited four years to cast that vote, as did others. If Republicans think we do not have the endurance to kick their butts out 6 years from now over this issue their level of stupidity is astounding.
John Cornyn was good.
I agree with you on this particular vote, SS --- this is a litmus test issue, and if they don't vote with the President on this, they aren't worth having. Those aren't the RINOs I'm talking about - it is those RINOs who typically vote conservative on issues but... but ...
What am I talking about?
You're right. This IS the type of issue we lose these RINOs on...
No quarter.
Me, too.
