If they are bringing Dobson into this, it's just another sign of their desperation.

Key item here from the recent Washingtopn Post article I linked:
"Never before has a minority blocked a judicial nominee that has majority support for an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor," Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) said in a widely reported December speech.

Apparently the dems have a limited number of Ben Franklin quotes. By the way, Leaky, there is not a whole lot left of the Republic the founders envisioned.

"Tom Harkin (D-IA) "Have the guts to come out and vote up or down
.And once and for all, put behind us this filibuster procedure on nominations." (Congressional Record, June 22, 1995, S8861)"
I am lost here. If we say now that the current demonrat filibustering is unprecedented (with the exception of Fortas) then what is Tom Harkin speaking in this quote.
In addition, are not most of the quotes you cite actually concerned with the process the Republicans were using in not advancing their nominees names to the Senate (I believe after they had actually passed Committee)? As such the cited statements do not seem to relevant then to the current filibustering. Admittedly, I see some that do refer to hypothetical filibustering and those would be relevant.

Democrats are religious bigots. Just like fanatical Islamists!!
I said this yesterday and will say it again...The Dems KNOW they won't be in the majority in the Senate for a long time and even then probably won't have a Dem president. If they did, they'd LOVE to have a 51 vote rule so they could impose their America-hating liberal judges.
They are so phony! Screw 'em.
