Ya, they are holding pep rallies with wild eyed enthusiasm on the steps of the Capitol while our back stabbing RINOS try and cut a deal in the back room away from the common folk of the Party. Can you believe that we added seats in the senate and still find ourselves in this horse shit?

If Dem filibusters of qualified judges stand, in more than the very rare case, then it is a brave new world. Ginsberg in that environment wouldn't have had a chance. Breyer might not have made it as well. The vacancies would pile up, except maybe for skilled sleath nominees.

Frist plans to allow 100 hours of debate...

Sheesssh! That's two hours per senator. 15 minutes apiece would have been plenty.

Yes, I remember. It's worth looking forward too.

Nothing is set in stone but I want it entered into record I expect a vote.

These senators are desperate to refuse a vote. Frist needs to call win or lose for them to go on record. They will be hung by their constituents for their obstruction.

There are not 15 RINOS in the Senate by anyone's measure. Of course, the Dems would use the Nuke option at the drop of the hat, if they have the votes. That cat is already out of the bag. That happened the moment the Dems broke tradition and started filibustering judges who had clear majority support, both in committee (maybe the Dems don't like the committee system either now, at least when a Dem is president the the GOP controls the Senate) and on the floor. Now the issue is that maybe swing Senators like the idea of having the whip hand. THIS IS ALL ABOUT POWER.

The chat about principle on both sides annoys me. There is nothing principled about the filibuster in any context (the majority within the law and checked by an independent judiciary should have its way in a democracy), and it has been with us forever. It goes downhill from there.

That makes me feel a little better, although I've never seen a politician especially a Senator that didn't talk longer than they should especially if they didn't have anything to say. MRN

That is NOT what Bush wants; he wants UP OR DOWN votes on ALL of them. Not some pack of 12 fools deciding for 88 other people.

Bush will get his UP OR DOWN vote but he won't get all of his judges confirmed.

A pack of 51 fools can decide to vote DOWN some of the judges in the UP OR DOWN vote. That's what this pack of 12 fools is deciding now. How many will they vote down.

The six RINO's can still say that they gave the president his UP OR DOWN vote. The six RINO's will jointly decide how many of the judges they can vote against...and get away with it.
