Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
Because we are used to hearing that right before ... that is why I have no spine. Not with Colburn though.
I am re-listening to Rush and George Allen sounds EVEN better the third time around!
What's going on, I missed something- is this another qurum call?
Sharpton is on Dean's a$$ AGAIN over the lack of blacks/browns in key Dem positions ...

Really. Chrissie just said he believed the Democrats started this whole thing.
C. Borden Grey just pointed out that IF the fillibuster option really WAS available and had been used before the Dems would have used it on Clarence Thomas! It wasn't and they knew it -- so that's why they had to produce Anita Hill and trash Thomas that way.
Excellent!
Oh, wait, I have it! They are going to have him on to castigate the democrats for not fighting harder in Congress!!
wow, Chris Matthews is actually saying the Dems have gone too far - they have changed the rules to say that any judicial nominee effectlvely needs 60 votes to pass now. john breaux was stunned!
Boyden Grey making a good point - saying under these rules, Thomas certainly would not have been confirmed for SCOTUS (he didn't have 60 votes)
great point by Grey!
get this talking point out to the Reps.
Me thinks the Dems are toast on this one when even Mathews knows they are wrong.
I posted that he is going to be on MTP--but, I have a problem, I can't stand either Dean or Russert---
Do I really want to subject myself to such punishment first thing on a Sunday? Decisions, decisions....
BUMP!
I'm shocked...Matthews usually always buys into the Dem line on everything!
That was a great point, wasn't it?????
WHOA! Chris Matthews just went to the NUT of the issue.
Breaux was trying to justify the Dem filibusters and said Clarence Thomas would probably be filibustered for Cheif Justice.
Boyden Gray pounced on the reference to Thomas. He pointed out to Chris that, if filibusters were the norm, Dems would surely have filibustered Justice Thomas. But they didn't...because that wasn't tradition then. A light went off over Chris' head as if he'd never heard that comparison. Chris Breaux: "So that's it, the Dems changed the rules!"
Breau mumbled around until Chris closed the segment by telling him:
"THE DEMS NEED TO WIN MORE ELECTIONS. GET YOURSELVES MORE SENATORS AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO PLAY THESE GAMES."
THAT is what I've wanted pubbies to say for a looooong time!
You want to control the Judiciary, get enough to be in the majority. You want to control floor votes, get more senators!
Maybe Zell got to Chrissy!
Thats a very good sign to me!
That is a GREAT idea, mabelkitty! I'm with ya!
You think voter fraud is a problem now, it is child's play to what you guys are proposing.
Men dead 10 years, Weekend at Bernies like, would rule the country.
Someone needs to phone or email the pubbies in the Senate and tell them to use that one on the Senate floor
