I'm not able to follow today -- tied up in Mexico and only on for a second -- what's the short version of today's events?

OK, you asked for it:

Blah blah blah.

Blah blah blah.

Blah blah blah.

Blah.

It was the Senate. With Democrats. And Specter.

Blah.

He's honoring his pledge to let them "debate" the candidates.

So far, we're the only ones discussing the nominees.

I still want Estrada brought up for a possible SC vacancy. Since his wife was ill I undertsnad his withdrawal, he may not even wish to go through this again after he death. But I'd love him alongside brown on the Highest Court.

Same old stuff. Talk of deals. Dems saying the Senate is in peril. Repubs bringing actual fact on judges.

That's the bottom line....It was originally a delay tactic. They thought they get the Whitehouse back.

From the article:

With a decision on whether to allow filibusters looming, centrist lawmakers met in various offices around the Capitol complex — in Sen. John Warner (news, bio, voting record)'s office at one point, Republican Mike DeWine's office at another — seeking a compromise that would avert a politically explosive confrontation.

Democratic Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado had attended at least 13 private meetings over the previous 24 hours with senators trying to reach a deal, a spokesman said.

"It's kind of like exams. If you have a date-certain, people tend to react. So in that sense, this has been a good thing," said Sen. Lindsey Graham (news, bio, voting record), R-S.C., one of the negotiators.

Congressional aides said late Wednesday the negotiators failed to reach agreement but would resume their talks Thursday. The aides spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions are being held behind closed doors.

Patty Murray....wonder if she benefitted from some of those phoney ballots that were cast for their phony office-stealing Governor....

Turn on Hardball!

Chris just asked Sen. Corzine to name ONE opinion by Judge Brown that he didn't like. Corzine couldn't name one.
Chris asked again...and again! Corzine could not name even one opinion of her that he found offensive!

LOL!

Oh geez, not DeWine now too? I think he's up in 2006, maybe 2008! If they cave because of these fools I hope they pay a big price when they run for reelection.

But then again, if the Pubs let them ruin it they probably don't have the stones to punish them.

I want a vote so we can see the record of the RINOS and see how many, if any, Dems vote with the GOP like Lieberman or Nelson.

The one against was Lott.

Against black nominee, Roger Gregory.

Chuckie infers it was to appease Jesse Helm, who opposed all black judges.

Sounds like a segue for Sheets Byrd.

The RATS are experts at turning the tables around to make the pubs look horrible...HAVEN'T our leaders learned that yet? What a bunch of idiots! No deals, no extra time, NO nothing! How many times do we have to tell our leaders that they are the MAJORITY, for crying out loud...ughhhh! Meeting with them after the floor debate only makes the pubs look like a bunch of cowards! God give us strength to endure!!

I think the DEMS made a huge mistake taking on this issue the way they did. If body language is any indication of the way it is going, Jon Corzine looks beat! Orin Hatch is acting feisty like he knows we are winning!
