Welcome, all you Freepers, to the continuing C-span soap operas about judicial nominations. "The Guiding SEARCHLIGHT, " "As the SENATE Turns, "One NOMINATION to Live" "GERIATRIC Hospital" (for all you Byrd and Lautenberg fans out there). Follow along with us, as the Dems raise the level of histrionics, bloviation, pontification, and all around bad acting to new highs, er, lows...
Wouldn't suprise me one bit if he was. From what I've seen of him he is a good man who talks straight and is a conservative Republican. In other words, he has all the ingredients the rats hate.
I don't think that is a winning option.
When Frist walks in, he gets the floor. At that time, he need only seek a cloture vote. The nuclear option proceeds from there.
HA! Sessions just says that Janice Browon is still humble and approachable, not like some judges who act like they were "annointed, not appointed."
I heard that at last nights function that Bush spoke at, he helped raise 15 million for the RNC!!!
BUT, I bet the RNC is going to be stingy with any REP that goes against the constitutional option!
Me too. At first it seemed like a great luxury. Now it is an absolute necessity. How quickly that happens :)

I hope Sheets is still taking his afternoon nap. Don't want to miss him.
Hard for me to believe that the Dems would go this route unless they thought they had the votes to block the nuclear option. They would be trading a possible (though not likely) successful future filibuster for whatever PR advantage they might get as a result of the Pubbies action. Since the polls appear to be against them on this, forcing a nuclear option vote would not be in their best interest at this time. I expect them to bluster, threaten, maybe even yell and screem but in the end to fold their losing hand.
Wow, 15 million? awesome, Frist gave them a 50 hours per nominee in which to hang themselves! LOL Let's enjoy it! We are Large and in Charge!
Just funning here.....senior citizens are everywhere...freeping, playing shuffle board, collecting SS, and/or touring the country. I had one of those 1-cup coffee things w/OUT the automatic turn-off and burned it up.
...Senior Citizen Carolinamom (who is in denial about her age, which is just a number imo)
You are very correct---he was not given the appointment to whatever court that he was nominated for---
So, what does he do? Hide, cry, complain, NOPE, he runs for the senate and is now running rings around the ones that voted against him!!!

"On Thursday, Dr. Frist will participate in another rally at the Capitol, by socially conservative African-American pastors who want to create support for Justice Brown, who is black. Organizers say Dr. Frist has agreed to appear.
An online invitation casts the rules change in terms of racial justice, saying: 'Racial profiling, unfair sentencing and a disproportionate number of number of blacks in prison all spell racism and classism. But how do we fight against these trends?'
It concludes by urging 'all American citizens to call their senators and demand an up or down' vote on Mr. Bush's nominees and says the pastors want to 'formally endorse' Justice Brown."
The Dems are going to be absolutely livid! LOL
..."annointed, not appointed."...
It's true.
Sessions is great! He's doing a great job explaining the Owen's abortion/parental consent issue. Demos are delusional to think parents should have NO rights concerning their children having abortions. I doubt if Conservative Demos would agree with them on abortion.
Sessions will take the words of those who know Justice Brown over those who represent *special interest groups* and are just interested in their agenda.(Good for him~!) I really like the way Sessions is calmly explaining who Justice Brown really is!!
Brownback up...good good good.
Dontcha love it? Can't keep a good man down. And he really is a GOOD man.
brownback up!
LOLOLOL. By the way, I love the way Sessions pronounces "bias."

Mr. McCONNELL. Mr. President and Members of the Senate, tomorrow morning the Senate will begin consideration of the nomination of Priscilla Owen to be U.S. circuit court judge for the Fifth Circuit. We will debate the nomination throughout the day tomorrow. I encourage Members who wish to speak on the nomination to come to the Senate during tomorrow's session.
I talked to the Democrat leader about the structure of the debate, and he will accommodate Members who desire to make statements. I encourage Senators to contact cloakrooms if they would like to speak on the nomination. We look forward to the debate on Priscilla Owen, and we hope all of the Members will participate.
Excellent, love it!
