Just Reported -- Frist and Reid broke off filibuster negotiations tonight -- Both said, "stick a fork in it, we're done" (or words to that effect).
Reid is quoted as saying that Frist wanted "all or nothing." Hmm -- sounds good to me!
Wednesday is D-Day. Better start loading up Fat Man and Little Boy! We're going thermonuclear!
Superb!!! The hired help relayed the message!!! Said: "There's a bad mood on the right!"
Well then, in 2 years Harold Ford will be your senator. Will you trust him?
You're joking right? Ford has as much change of being elected as my cat.
Nuclear Harry Reid
President Signs Yucca Mountain Bill
Statement by the Press Secretary
The President was pleased today to sign House Joint Resolution 87. The successful completion of the Yucca Mountain (NEVADA) project will ensure our nation has a safe and secure underground facility that will store nuclear waste in a manner that protects our environment and our citizens.
Nevada Nuclear tests might resume.
Local and national military watchdogs say all indications are that President Bush, if re-elected, would begin testing some types of nuclear weapons before the end of the decade at the NTS, located about 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas and upwind of Utah.
New projects planned for the Nevada Test Site are raising concern that nuclear bomb testing may resume there.
Yucky Harry!
He has all the nuclear fun.
LOL! ;-D
Here's another point to ponder, which hasn't really been explored. Te Dems have painted themselves into a real corner, because many, if not all of these judges are going to pass with 60+ votes, thu stotally negating the Dem argument about the "so called " need to protect the minority..All 55 Republicans , plus many of the Dems in the red states will vote for confirmation...
Hey, Imus endorsed him big time..totally in the tank for Ford..seriously, who will run against him?..FWIW, the GOP should send money to Ford's uncle..
If they vote against this, they'll be on the record as having voted against their party, their president and their country, not just something they said to Russert or Matthews.
The first thing that I need to say to you, Thank you Tennessee from the state of Texas for our freedom. I believe that more Tenneseeans died at the Alamo than any other state.
I am giving Frist the benefit of the doubt for now, and that is going to expire "quickly", but I believe that he will act.
BTW, you have a great FR homepage!
Don't let the national nabobs paint the picture for you. The Ford name holds no power beyond Memphis. He can't win in this state and the last time I checked the U.S. Senate seat was a statewide election.
For the GOP there is Ed Bryant who barely lost the primary to Lamar! for Fred Thompson's seat, Van Hilleary who let Phil Bredesen squeak by him to win the governorship (Van took east Tenn for granted since it was his old U.S. House district and Phil made enough gains there to add to his total), and a few RINO's.
My bet, and hope, is Ed Bryant. A solid conservative that should and will get help from Lamar!, Fred (he'll come back and campaign) and Marsha Blackburn (6th district congresswoman from one of the most conversative in the country, mine - we gave Bush his biggest district victory than any other in the country in 2004).
Regardless, half the idiots in Tenn (ie Dems) can't tell the difference between Harold Ford, his corrupt uncle, his corrupt dad, etc.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Kind words my friend. Texas was more than worth it!!
I guess Bloomberg's media empire is good for something after all.
:7)
-good times, G.J.P. (Jr.)
Thanks for the info, and the candidate recap. I don't know enough about Tenn politics to judge, but the national hype for Ford is enormous, and growing. It sounds like a coronation in waiting..
Ignore the "national" media. They never saw Gore losing his "home state" (it isn't, he's never here and was not even born here) in 2000.
Hey, Gore carried the District of Columbia..his home state..
I'm sure you have heard this before but he hasn't had the votes. The man isn't just fighting the Democrats, he's fighting members of his own party. The Senators not to trust are Hagel and McCain. (I give the Senators from Maine and Chafee a pass, they probably are actually representing their constituents.)
When the Republicans call me for money I ask them if it's for the Senate...if it is, I ask them for a line item veto so I can check off those I don't want to support. To me that's the message that we need to get to them.
Davey Crocket bump!!!!!
ROFL, that's the truth!
Such an asinine statement!
Check your facts!...since its inception the Senate needed ONLY 51% to do it's business, no matter what type.
So knock this out with your thermonuclear horse shit which never existed!...period!
