BREAKINH!!-- FRIST TELLS REID TO POUND SAND -- FILIBUSTER NEGOTIATIONS HALTED!!
Reuters ^ | 05-16-05 | cww

Posted on 05/16/2005 8:11:22 PM PDT by CWW

Just Reported -- Frist and Reid broke off filibuster negotiations tonight -- Both said, "stick a fork in it, we're done" (or words to that effect).

Reid is quoted as saying that Frist wanted "all or nothing." Hmm -- sounds good to me!

Wednesday is D-Day. Better start loading up Fat Man and Little Boy! We're going thermonuclear!

That is why we need to keep pounding these Reps till the votes are taken and these Justices are on the Court. As good as this news appears to be, this battle isn't over.

Ah. I need to do more homework I think. So, if the shoe is ever on the other foot, we can still filibuster...we just have to do it in public so that it is more transparent.

Hmm...why isn't the press on board here? Isn't that what they always are screaming for—a more transparent government. /eye roll

"The wheel will turn someday,"

That is absolutely correct. I see it happening about 40 years down the road. I think that the dims are so toast, that they may never recover- there may actually be a third party replacement, rather than a dim recovery. Kennedy- Kerry- Howard- CLINTOON? I don't see anything there in the near future.

No, if the shoe is ever on the other foot and the nuclear option has been enacted, we can't filibuster their judge nominees. This filibuster ban applies only to judicial nominations though, which nobody ever did before anyway. We seem to have better ways to stifle judges...:)

You can thank me for this action by Frist. A sweet little Robot Reader called tonight for the RNC asking for a hand out. I told her "Not One More Dime" until the Senate grew some balls. It was a awkward moment for her as I waited for her to continue. LOL

Probably the 250, but that is a guess. Since this is a mockup of what they looked like, they may have actually used a propane tank.

Here's where I got that photo.

Nope.we have LIEberman on board and by my count, the Dems can't peel off 6 GOPers. And don't forget that we have Cheney, to break any ties. :-)

"Ready, set...ready, set...ready set...ready set...ready set...ready, "

I think you got it wrong- it's "Ready, Fire, Aim". However, I disagree, I trust Frist so far.

You know, I think that despite the naysayers, conservatives have done this right. Slowly but steadily win in the world of ideas. That's how we will win on judges.

I know, because when I graduated from College fifteenish years ago I was a liberal. Experience made me a conservative.

(BTW, I wholeheartedly support the nuclear option...but try to learn from those who have a different perspective. Especially those who are on the same team! That's why I love FR.)

You are then a more patient person than I. Frist is my senator and I don't trust him. He's an elitist, rich white guy that cares more about his name than anything else.

The point of my "ready set" was that Frist has been "threatening" this for MONTHS and has done nothing.
