BREAKINH!!-- FRIST TELLS REID TO POUND SAND -- FILIBUSTER NEGOTIATIONS HALTED!!
Reuters ^ | 05-16-05 | cww

Posted on 05/16/2005 8:11:22 PM PDT by CWW

Just Reported -- Frist and Reid broke off filibuster negotiations tonight -- Both said, "stick a fork in it, we're done" (or words to that effect).

Reid is quoted as saying that Frist wanted "all or nothing." Hmm -- sounds good to me!

Wednesday is D-Day. Better start loading up Fat Man and Little Boy! We're going thermonuclear!

McConnell claims they may have enough Dems to get to 60 votes. Personally, I think this is insane. He obviously is hyping up the case. But, hopefully we can peel off 1 Dem at least. If we can do that, I think we will win.

EagleClaw: The real question is, why couldn't Jack Bauer be Majority Leader?

JoeSixPack1: Fictionally speaking, Bauer would take custody of the entire minority for national security reasons. Following preliminary information gathering, it would take decades to sort out the charges. :-)

So, in light of this, why couldn't Jack Bauer be Majority Leader?

So will Cheney vote no matter what? or if they have the votes will he sit it out?

Cheney will make the ruling if there is a 'point of order' submitted. He'll only vote if there is a 50-50 tie on the democrat appeal of his ruling. That all assumes a point of order being submitted.

Also should the Dems fail in their effort to filibuster all "extreme" judges will they act like the Texas Dems and visit New Mexico and Oklahoma for a few months?
