I have no idea what Jimmy Martin's politics (if any) were, but I suspect the man was a patriot.
He was the greatest lead singer in Bluegrass music, IMHO and a first-rate entertainer. He also played some of the tastiest, most hard-driving rhythm guitar around. He was a uniquely American artist, true country, and Bluegrass all the way. I'm at a loss here trying to write something worthy of the man and his work.
If you like Bluegrass or country music and you haven't heard Jimmy Martin, I urge you to check him out.

Many of these bluegrass musicians are lefties. Though I do admit that bluegrass is not as bad as folk, progressive rock or jazz.
Let's be honest, Country Music is the most ideologically reliable of the major musical forms.

I have no idea what Jimmy Martin's politics (if any) were, but I suspect the man was a patriot. Like all the old timers, like Bill, Ralph, Mac, Lester, Earl - Jimmy is a simple man. Never got above their raising - which is the secret of success.
Rest in Peace.

Jimmy was fun to work with in the studio (memories of my misspent youth). Took that damn coon hound everywhere with him.

RIP Jimmy. Tell Bill Monroe we miss him.

Jimmy had been very ill since last fall and basically been confined to bed since around the first of the year. Over the course of the past couple of weeks, he declined very quickly and was in a lot of pain.

Thanks for the thread and the ping, I had just heard this news myself. Another one joins the Angel Band.
Oh the hit parade of love I know I'll never stop
I've got a long long way to climb before I reach the top
But if I do get there soon I'll really have it made
Then I'll know I'm number one on your lover's hit parade
