..My jaw has dropped..It would really screw up things...your take.

It would change the balance from 55-45 to 54-46, thus empowering the RINO,s, hmmmm.

Although I think Santorum would benefit by not having Casey run against him in 2006, who knows what Specter will do?

I wish Bird would just DIE.

we will have Kennedy (a murderer).... and a COWARD!

What's soooo amazing is that cBS would give this A**hole an unopposed forum for his lies and distortions.

At least they didn't use Ken Starr's interview to bolster the Swimmer's case, that's pleasantly surprising sort of.

I wonder if anybody was even watching?

Ooohhh, Biden just said Ken Starr is against the Byrd option. Does he know that's not the case, I wonder?

I don't watch CNN, but didn't anyone call Biden on his obvious lie?

I haven't read the whole thread so this may have been noted elsewhere but I thought it newsworthy.

On Fox News Sunday, it was suggested that if the Dems don't have the votes (the RINO votes) to stop the nuclear option their best strategy is to allow a cloture vote to succeed after they filibuster the Circuit Court nominees. This would preserve their "right" to filibuster the Supreme Court nominees and give them more time to lobby the seven or so RINOS who might change their mind, particularly if they don't like the Supreme Court nominee.

On the Frist side, if he doesn't have the votes then I think he will not force the issue. He will just delay and start writing his memoirs now since his Presidential hopes will be gone, gone, gone.

Thus the logic is that the nuclear option will NOT HAPPEN NEXT WEEK. If Frist has the votes the Dems will fold temporarily and that will delay the vote to the timeframe when the first USSC nominee is presented to the Senate.

We do live in interesting times.

I get the feeling that when it comes to telling Biden he is WRONG, his staff goes into an "Emporer's new clothes" mode...

For someone who is slowly torturing a good man (Bolton) for supposedly having a bad temper....I am sure that NONE of his staff wants to be the one to say, "Uh, Sen. Biden, sir, what you just said on national TV, about Ken Starr? Well, CBS did it again and misquoted him, so what you just said about Starr being against the "nuclear option"? Uh, no, he is on the Republicans side on this...."

BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, but he was careful to throw it in at the end of the segment, so there really was no time.

There are times when I want to get a video of Cheney's "Sherman remarks" and clonk these clowns upside the head with it.

Not that they had much credibility with me before, but when the libs go on and on about how Cheney is "the" GOP candidate in '08, they are laughable. If one takes their remarks seriously, then one has to say they are calling our venerable Vice President a liar.

I Don't Blame {D}s for Judical FiliBustering
More power to 'em

They are just extraordinarily playing within the rules. After all, precedent was set in 1968 with the (R) Filibuster of AbeFortis, an unEthical nominee for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Likewise, Frist is also just extraordinarily playing within the rules. After all, precedent was set in 1979 when on 4 occasions, the (D) Senate Majority leader, Robert Byrd, executed a planned chair ruling that legally endRan and Busted a (D) legislative filibuster.

Byrd's precedent setting 1979 actions will be especially usefull to Frist if the (D)s counterattack and "bring the Senate to a screeching halt."

Byrd's precedent setting 1979 actions were designed to counter that exact strategy on specific legislation.
