Ditto, Mike. And not just the support, but the Bush political MACHINERY that, when it comes to elections, seems to be operate on all cylinders.

seems too....

although Hillary will be provided much the same. I still think the clintonistas that infiltrated John Kerry's campaign in August of last year sunk him on purpose....

I don't think a visit by anybody other than President Bush was ever on the "breaking news" sidebar.

Not "trolling" (the Condoleezza Kool-Aide causes ugliness), just arguing with those who think Rice is viable as a successor to President Bush, which she is not.

Think what you want of Condi, this story belongs in breaking news.

C-17s are incredibly wide, endthematrix. And can be set up with plush airline-type VIP or DV (Distinguished Visitor)seats and small tables. Though the regular modular seats (Not nylon drop-down bulkhead mounted seats) are quite comfortable.

Jack.

Mike, you're right as to the Clinton machine.

But, imo, that's what makes Condi so viable. Clinton was able to hold on to office because of the unrelenting support of Women and Blacks- major cogs in that machine.

Among the current GOP hopefuls, Condi makes the greatest impact on those groups, I think.

Powell doesn't really have much of a following.

Rice doesn't either. It's small, vocal, but small.

I guess you missed the polls on FR putting Various Republicans against Hillary. Condi got the most support here of any of the Rs.

So, even among the very conservative population here, Condi gets widespread support.

I guess you missed the polls on FR putting Various Republicans against Hillary.

There's been only one such FR poll that was referenced in post #156. The poll question wasn't on who people support, rather "would stand the best shot at defeating Hillary in '08". That survey was also taken before it was widely known that Rice is pro-choice. And a lot of people were misled by Dick Morris, who predicted concurrently and incorrectly that Rice is the only one who can defeat Hillary. She's actually the one who can lose, which is what Morris wants because Hillary is his bread and butter (i.e. having known her gets him face time on TV & radio).

Now Fudd, that is just asking too much of advance, who is currently lost in a loop over the correct spelling of Kool-Aid. :^)

You sound like a Democrat that lost an election. Making excuses, and blaming the ignorance of the voter.

Right. Just a few people like her. Like 90% of the Republican party.

Thanks, Marple. Good to see you back in fine form.

There are some weasels out there who try to declare themselves to be the "gatekeepers" of the Republican Party. They are manifestly not. In every poll in which Rice has been a part of, she's either won it, or she's come damned close to winning it. There was a straw up in Minnesota of Republican activists a week ago. Rice won that going away, beating Rudy by 10 points. Don't think that her people don't know about this stuff.

Rice will not only run in 2008, she will win. That Larry King interview in which the gun right's issue came out of the blue? That's called talking to the base. She knows what she's doing when she does that. Do any of you know what happened on NRA blogs when she did that? They went nuts! They love her. And they vote Republican. And she knows this.

And here's a prediction; her position on the Life issue will be a federalist position, one which the party can accept and run on. She'll whip Hillary's ass.

So let all the gloomy gus types bitch and moan about how Condi has no support. I happen to know that the reality is 180 degrees different.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I don't care if you like or don't like Condi as a candidate. However your dissing people who would consider her and acting as if she is the choice of some kind of splinter fringe group is untenable.

I show you a poll on FR indicating that she is considered the top candidate against HRC and you try to spin it away as ignorance on the part of Freepers. It just might be that people here are more sophisticated than you think.

She is not only impressive as an individual, with numerous outstanding accomplishments, but exudes confidence, style, and class which will have a powerful effect on voters. Most importantly, she can speak to the conservative position on issues not only of foreign policy, but on things like Second Amendment Rights in a way that is new and refreshing to see. When did a Secretary of State ever stand up internationally against the gun controlniks?

Another objection you raised is that she is unmarried. I agree that this could be a political negative, but it is a curable one :-). It would not influence my vote, but a White House wedding might have a powerful appeal to many voters out there. I'm not saying it would happen, but think about it.

You point to Dick Morris' comments as if they are determinative. You want to let liberals pick our candidates by knee jerk opposing whoever they favor? I'm sure you don't. So why give Morris so much attention? Or was that just a facetious remark on your part?

I haven't made up my mind, but I am certainly interested. There are many hurdles she will have to jump, as will all the potential candidates in the next few years. But to exclude Rice and start belittling anyone that doesn't agree would seem to be both foolish and premature. I urge you to reconsider your take on this.
