Blair accuser (Galloway) 'on the take from Saddam' (New Evidence)

NEW YORK: George Galloway, the British MP who taunted Tony Blair over Iraq after scoring an upset victory in last week's general election, is facing fresh accusations he received oil allocations from Saddam Hussein's regime and may have used a children's charity to conceal payments.

A US Senate committee published new evidence yesterday that the former Labour MP received allocations for millions of barrels of oil. The investigation said Charles Pasqua, the conservative former French interior minister, also received the "lucrative" allocations under the UN's oil-for-food program.

It doesn't surprise me at all.

I bet all the greatest detractors from the War on Iraq did it, because they were being bribed by Saddam.

I recently read that new evidence shows that high government officials in various countries ( not named at the time) were involved. I guess Galloway is just one.

I always find the more detailed article after I post one.

Anyway, here is one:

US Senate accuses Galloway, Pasqua over Iraq oil

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=8470792

A U.S. Senate committee said on Thursday British parliamentarian George Galloway and former French Interior Minister Charles Pasqua benefited from the U.N. oil-for-food program for Iraq, a charge both men denied.

A report by the committee said Galloway had been given "allocations" for 20 million barrels of oil while Pasqua got 11 million barrels, with the personal approval of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

Galloway, newly elected to the British Parliament as a left-wing anti-Iraq war independent after Prime Minister Tony Blair's Labor Party expelled him over his views on the conflict, said the claims were absurd.

George Galloway is not a man who can be trusted.

20 million barrels @, say, $40 a barrel... that would be good "walking around" money by most standards.

The vouchers for 1 barrel of oil was worth at least $2 . That times $20 million = $40 million, tax free.

I believe that it is true that Scott Ritter admitted he was paid with oil allocations from Iraq.

I recall reading that visiting foreigners received allocations and were able to sell the oil to international traders for between 10 cents and 30 cents per barrel. A 1m-barrel allocation could net as much as $300,000 in profit. The international traders swarmed over the hotels where these friends of Saddam stayed while they "smelled the alleys" of Baghdad.

As I recall there were a few Congressmen visiting Iraq to sniff out the truth about Uncle Saddam.

"Let me repeat. I have never traded in a barrel of oil, or any vouchers for it," he said in a written statement. "And no one has acted on my behalf, trading in oil - Middle Eastern, olive, patchouli or any other - or in vouchers, whatever they are."

LOL! This has me in hysterics. He's not too defensive, is he?

Thanks for pointing out the 2 earlier links. The snippet above was from the first link.

Will he have to pay back the money he got for the slander suit with this new evidence?

If he received any libel money at all, he should hand it back over.

BTW, I think DC area Freepers should stock up on cartons of eggs to greet gallaway if he visits Congress...LOL.

This entire oil for food scandal is so incredibly huge -- especially with all its ramifications. So what does my regional newspaper newsday cover? This scandal? No. It instead prefers to give negative attention to U.S. and coalition forces and others over some money in Iraq that we allegedly cannot account for at this time. The money is a mere pittance when compared to oil-for-food and all the traitors that were on the take and how this explains why france, germany and other countries worked against setting sadam straight for once and for all. For me, the blood of this war is on the backs of those on the take who cuddled sadam. This war is their fault.

That's why I stopped reading local newspapers (liberal papers) years ago. But I received a delivery copy of newsday the other day by mistake and I was so angry when I scanned through it and saw what they were covering! Their bias is so obvious these days.
