Definately something to ponder as I set the coffee pot and the alarm.
I'm glad they caught him and hope they got him before he took advantage of other kids.
It would be nice if he truly repented and would help parents prevent child molestations,etc. Odd though. Focus on the Family had a guy on who did the same thing and he served twenty years in prison.
If I were him, I would watch out who I took those Italian lessons from. When those mafia wise guys find out what he is in for, they might show him a few tricks about child abuse. Eh, Vinnie, youse got that broken bottle I could borrow? Fella here wants to try out a little (bleep).

I guess some states don't take this as seriously as others. Technically sex with a fourteen year old is called ebophilia, sexual obsession with teenagers and I suppose carries a lighter sentence than doing the same with a say a six year old.

My dad never taught me italian. I wish he did but he was all into assimilation. My goal in life is to learn spanish, french and portuguese. Once I learn those three I can travel most anywhere in the world and be understood. The only language I spoke half way decent was afrikaans but now all I know are really nasty jokes :-)

Color me wondering why they got Italian classes in prison.
No kidding. I'm all for prisoners getting their GEDs and rehabbing themselves but this guy reminds of Hannibal Lecter reading italian food magazines.

Not that I approve of either one, but there IS a big difference between pedophiles and ephebophiles. Pre-adolescent children never enjoy sexual relationships with adults, and thus someone who likes to have sex with them by definition likes hurting them, frightening them, etc. On the other hand, 14 year olds (of both sexes) often try to initiate sexual relationships with adults, and/or are very flattered when an adult initiates a sexual relationship with them, and often enjoy the sexual aspect very much. So an adult who's emotionally stunted or for whatever reason unable to form sexual relationships with adults, may prefer adolescents, and it may be very important to them that the adolescent seems to be enjoying it. It's not a bit healthy for either the adult or the adolescent, but it's not monstrous on the level of an adult forcing him(or her)self sexually on an unwilling, uncomprehending, and terrified child.
Perhaps that's why the sentencing guidelines are different.
