There is an internet vandal who defaces Free Republic with very gross pictures (homosexual sex and stuff from rotton.com) as well as posting "ALL YOU F***** N*****S & JEWS SHOULD BE LYNCHED".
He pings a variety of people to his post, ensuring that the trash is still in their My Posts lists.
To me, this isn't the milder form of harassment that Eschoir engaged in so many years ago. The very worst he would do is ask if you ever committed sodomy, and he once used the screen name "Paula Jones Tw*t". This is mild.
What this sick piece of work is doing is much more egregious. I believe it crosses the line into criminal defacement and restraint of trade. Are there any Free Republic lawyers (especially prosecutors) who can address this issue, and are there any private detectives with internet savvy that will help track the identity of this person down?
it's gone. who could be so sick?
Anything we can do to help, beyond merely pinging or alerting you to the troll?
Thank God.
"who could be so sick?"
It doesn't matter. Evil and hate have no rhyme or reason. All that matters is we make sure he and others like him never, ever do it again.
Anyone else need help with getting rid of that troll's post?
It entertains us Viking Kitties. :)
But I'm not talking about disruptors in general. I'm just talking about this one case. mhking said that he tried doing this with little fanfare. It just got worse. It has been going on for a while but only now do we see this brought out into the light.
Anything we can do, do.
What SJackson said in #735.
Thanks for the ping. Haven't been bothered by this, but based on the comments in this thread, I'm fortunate.
....I'll go grab a rope...
Thanks. I'm no legal expert, just wanna help. Like I said, anything we can do, do.
Trust me, you don't want to be. Ugh!
Interesting that troll man Willie Green would know how to handle those pics, eh?
I'm not referring to your posts at all, I've never seen them on the topic, but I've read many threads on hate crimes on FR. I've already noted I'm generally opposed to hate crime laws, and it's fair to say the overwhelming majority of Freepers feel that way, many far more vociferously than I. Any of them supporting criminal prosecution in this instance, and there's a legitimate issue here, need to review their thoughts on hate crimes in general.
IMO, there are typically a handful of posters on those threads who take a blame the victim position, relying on nonexistent statistic that most hate crimes (actually 2%-5%) are perpetrated by minorities. By their theory, I'm among the top 6 suspects in this event.
Just an observation on an apparent double standard.
I hope this guy gets in trouble. But I doubt he will.
I actually stayed away from FR today because I came across one of his sick, twisted, hideous pictures.
He and people like him are reason #1 my kids are not allowed on the web.
Dear Killborn,
Me, neither. Nonetheless, my own experiences with the law, trying to bring to justice miscreants who made my own life miserable, suggest that prosecutors are wary about spending public resources for things that they may view as better addressed through civil actions.

I really don't want to use hate crimes. It will come back and bite us so bad. The libs will say "see! those right wingers use it too! hate crime legislation are double plus good!"
Hmmm... I wonder about the intent of this mf...
It's easy to get involved in double standards when it benefits us. None of us are immune. I am guilty of this and I try to do my best to not fall for a ds.
Dear SJackson,
I'm generally opposed to hate crimes statutes, as well. To me, they verge on thought crime statutes. If someone murders another, it seems that the law should deal with the act, not whether murderer was thinking mean thoughts or not. In fact, for most crimes, I have a tought time trying to figure out how they might NOT be hate crimes.
I wouldn't generally support prosecution of disruptors like this under hate crimes statutes.
However, I'm just not sure that any of those laws are even applicable here, so whether or not it's a good idea is moot.
I think. ;-)

At least you have experience which counts. I understand that we don't want to clog the courts, but this could be serious enough to warrant this.
It could even lelead to a concentrated effort to shut FR down. It could already be such a thing.
I said earlier to do everything we can. This does not include unethical and unConstitutional bs like "hate crimes" prosecution or clog up the courts with civil suits if we don't really have any standing. I want this to be legal, Constitutional, and moral. I want the hammer to fall so hard on that loser that he will r egret being born.
And I want the entire world to take this lesson: f with conservatives, you will pay.
The pictures are public domain. They are all over the web. If a person happen to stumble upon this picture while reading FR, he can use the image URL and post it somewhere else before the mods nuke the pic. Also, he can save it into his computer and upload it to a photo hosting site and use it.
In this manner the pics could have even originated from FR!
Correction--I was one of the "ping"ees and I'm neither.
